Post

Hey guys, I'm new here. I have a 2002 Sentra SE-R Spec V. It's a great car when it's running 100%

Right now, I'm having a problem with it. 2 days ago, I was driving the car on a heavy rain. There was a lot of puddles on the road & some even flooded a bit. I wasn't going fast, probably even less than 10mph. Suddenly the SES light came on & the car barely wants to go when hit the gas pedal. The engine idles fine. The next day, I took it to a local repair shop. They said the code that came out was for cylinder 1 misfiring & problem with the throttle sensor.

This is the third time it happened whenever I was driving when it's raining heavy. The first time it happened, the next day the car runs fine but the SES stays on. The second time, the next day, the SES stays on & the car barely wants to go, like it's limping so the repair shop replaced the whole throttle body & problem solved.

That was about 7-8 months ago. Now the same problem is happening again. The repair shop said that I need a new ECU. After reading online, I realized that the throttle sensor problem is pretty common for this car.

What do you guys think? Should I replace the throttle body again or just look for the ECU?

The problem only happening when I'm driving on a heavy rain.

Any advice, suggestion, or input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys

Get the exact codes. That way you'll know exactly what to change.

If the ecu is going bad, you will tend to get quite a few RANDOM codes.

It is difficult to know for sure what is the problem. I had a similar problem with my 02 se-r spec v. The only difference is that the OBD scanner would not connect to the computer. I was able to pull a code with the self diagnose steps but after replacing the throttle body I continue to have the same problem of no acceleration. Also I was unable to pull any code. I have not been able to find an ecu for a good price.
