I have an RB20det that I can't get to run properly, so I'm trying to narrow down the problems..

What number is the ecu for an R32 silvertop RB20det? I've got a "20", but I've heard it's supposed to be an "00"... Anyone know?

I found the answer to my problems, my car has an ecu from a VG30de.. believe it or not.

I found a cool list: http://www.grid.co.jp/DAT/unitdat.txt That has all the part numbers for JDM ECU's.. right click and save that baby!!

10V11 is no good but if its 10U11 its an R32 RB20DE with auto trans (4 speed) from 06/92 up.

NON TURBO

VG30 and rb20 use pretty much the same ecu, just different programming.

Auto trans rb20 series 2 = 23Manual trans rb20 series 2 = 22

Here's my ECU, crap I guess the engine came with the wrong ECU from Venus.

So here's were I stand. I have a RB20DET engine with a non-turbo ecu from a RB20DE and a MAF thats from a R31. What a mess. No wonder my idle so so crazy !!!

UPDATE

Got my the correct ECU today for my RB20DET, hooked it up and my idle still jumps up and down to about 2000rpm then down to around 800rpm. This is with the MAF wired and not in the air intake. If i have the MAF wired and in the air intake, the engine doesnt want to turnover at all. Is the irratic idle a symptom of a bad MAF which is from a RB31 or could it be the wiring ?

If your maf is bad, it won't rev over 2800rpms or so.

Try unplugging the brown plug from the idle air valve.

Unplugged the brown plug from the idle air valve, but the same results, a hunting idle. I wish there were a definate way to tell if the MAF is bad.

I told you....if it revs over 2800 rpms then the maf is working fine...if it is not then it isn't working fine.
