Has anyone modified thier ecu circuit? Is it advisable / ok to get more HP? ( Does it work?) On ebay they sell lots of stuff most i'm scheptical about like spending $10.00 pLUS s& h on a .59 cent resistor to parallel a temp sensor , lowering the temp output thus having the ecu dump more fuel... Something just doesn't seem right to me yet? Any input to this? Thanks for the help ... JD

Those stupid things dont do ****!!! Dont waste your time... IF anything, theyll make it worse....

If you want a more detailed answer than that, search the forums..... THe only ECU mod is a JWT ECU, and an that gives it more power, by LEANING the mixture..... One of the misconceptions is that a richer mixture gives more power, and that is certainly not true...!!! What you want is a more thorough and full burn... Running rich will just waste gas...

If you become an electronic expert you can figure a way to fool the ecu by intercepting the MAF voltage amd translating it to a tiny bit lower value.........above say 4,000 rpm and say 3-4.5-6% lower- progressively.

The air will be there but the ecu will provide less fuel.......tricky to get right.........involves some zener diodes and some temperature compenstating thermistors, some variable resistors, and lots of trial and error.

What you do is reduce a 4.20 volt signal to say 4.10-4.05

The above if well sorted out might yield a 5% power increase. If you do it wrong it will melt the pistions and crack the exhaust valves.

http://www.vetteguru.com/mods/maf/http: ... maf_gmsThe above is for a MAF that produces a variable frequency signal instead of a variable voltage [all Nissan] but should give you an idea as to how things work.

Even JWT ecu leaves a tiny[3-5%] bit on the table as they don't want to blow up too many engines from owners not keep things maintained.

As a drop in fuel pressure [43.4 psi WOT] to say 40 psi can lean the already leaner AF ratio by another 4%......something like 12>12.5..........instead of 10.5 in stock configuration.34/43.4 = SQRT=11.5% leaner.

Tech....I saw a similar mod to the MAF sensor earlier today while searching the web. The mod cost $1200 and it totally replaced your stock MAF...connections, sensors, everthing with its own MAF. Attached was this little digital readout box that you put inside your car where you could adjust the senstivity of the sensor to trigger the A/F mixture to go leaner or richer at various rpms and once you had the settings adjusted for the entire rpm band you could specify them to remain fixed until you adjusted again. It came with a bunch of warnings about too lean of mixtures and needing a A/F ratio measurement done while programing the settings. If I find it again I will post the link here...it looked cool anyway and did exactly as you describe above.

Very common devices that have been around for 15 years. Not really cost effective based on power increases for non super/turbo charged engines..........when you can get both fuel and timing /speed limiter changes from JWT ecu for $700.

You can find to used simple versions for $250.
