well ...

i am in need of an ecu .. my motor did not come with one ... and other numberous items ... (it was cheap)

so i was wondering where could i get one?

and also wondering if it is worth purchasing those on EBAY? ... i have understood ebay always has deals .. but with cars ... you get what you pay for in quality ....

wondering if it is important if i get one of those "MINE" ecu's i see on ebay .. or the 5spd stock one ... or the auto ecu

by the way .. the motor is going to be set up to stock form .... and run a front mount with a stock turbo (maybe another rb turbo )

any suggestions would be nice ...

Yeah, i gained about 250hp by using an ECU.

What the hell are you working on? RB what? lol

I would stick with a stock ecu for a stock motor.

Any stock RB ECU should work for you if you're using manual transmission. You have to get the same ECU for the motor you have, RB20/25/26. Don't buy one of those MINES ecus, it has been rom tuned for a different engine with different upgrades. Furthermore they're tuned for japanese ~100octane fuel, not the 91 octane or whatever you have available locally. Because of this, if it had an aggressive timing map, you can potentially knock the engine to death on 91 octane. You "get what you pay for" is true most of the time for new parts, but not always true when dealing in used parts. You can find some great deals if you know what you're looking for and what the average value is.

Also we have a classifieds sticky thread here, if you need to buy or sell RB parts you just put a post in there and someone will email you if they have that part.

while you are correct on the "could be tuned for different modifications" you are wrong about the octane. japan's 100 equals about the US 93. they are measured differently

i ran 91 octane on my mines tuned ecu on my RB25 for almost 3 years with no problems.
