Just a question about "performance ECU's". I've done a search in this thread and found nothing. Eventually I plan on Turbocharging my KA, however I was just curious and was snooping around shops for maybe performance ECU's if they exist? I haven't found anything other than the JWT Ecu chip for the SR20DET.

I thought if I was going to get any straight answers I'd have to go to NICO. Thanks guys.

JWT makes ECU's for KA-Ts. You generally call them and tell them what you are doing. They can pretty much tune an ECU for any setup. http://www.boostdesigns.com has Enthalpy tuned ECUs for sale now too.

Ah excellent. Thanks . Another lame question if I may? What is the primary function of the ECU? Is it the increase of fuel and air mix?

wow, no offense but you have alot to learn. Usually Im not one to hate much when someone asks questions without searching but this is unreal. Do people crawl up from under rocks and decide to turbocharge their cars these days. And you have been a member since 2003, thats weird.

the ECU is your Engine Control Unit. It is the "brain," the "computer" of your car. It takes in all the information from sensors in the car and outputs correct spark timing, fuel delivery, etc etc etc. The ECU pretty much does everything to keep your car running, and you cant go without it.

That said-- stop asking questions about what you need to buy, and start learning about how your engine works. You can NOT do this without knowing what you're getting into- and that requires some pretty in depth knowledge about your car.

Yeah I'll try that - I'm glad some of you were some help. The rest of you really had nothing else to do did you?

Really? A question can expose someone's real need to learn more about the subject itself, before divulging into details. After having properly directed the individual towards his quest for a better background in car mechanics, I believe it was proper to close up with a humorous comment. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe you should lighten up. Maybe both?
