I'm no expert nor do I consider myself to be but I do know that a 62 is for a S13 Sr20det don't think anyother numbered ECU will work. Please correct me if I'm wrong

63 will work since it is an AT ecu and doesnt affect the drivability.

I thought the #61 ECU was for Auto trannies. Maybe the #63 is a CA18DET? Didn't the 89 Silvia's come with CA18's or am I getting the original 180SX confused with the Silvia?

This is what Phase 2 says

There are 4 types of S13 SR20DET ECU depending on the year/type of your SR20DET. They are as follows:

#61 - 1991 to 1993 180SX/Silvia Redtop SR20DET Automatic

#62 - 1991 to 1993 180SX/Silvia Redtop SR20DET Manual

#E5 - 1994 to 1996 180SX Blacktop SR20DET Manual

#J7 - 1997 to 1998 180SX Type-X Blacktop SR20DET Manual

From what it seems, some of the ECU can be cross-used as long as you didn't get an automatic ECU. If the car fires up and runs/boost well, then chances are it's useable. But to be safe it's always nicer to get the correct ECU model for your particular motor.

That is when buying an engine setup from a front clip is your best bet.

Heres my ECU: http://www.geocities.com/s14ra...U.jpgI dont think the CA ECU would run an SR so I doubt #63 is a CA ECU. I think its just another SR ECU or perhaps Phase2 was wrong and #61 was supposed to be #63. I have seen a couple #63's elsewhere, but never a #61 (yet).

Well, be that as it may, the #63 is for Auto trannies, which is obviously written on your ECU.Read the original post:

The seller says it's for an 89 Silvia. Garage Battle wants to know if that is an SR20DET ECU. The question here is not what ECU goes with which transmission. It's fairly simple. Did the SR20DET come in Silvias in 1989, or is that the CA18DET year? If I remember correctly, that is a CA year, so that would explain why nobody knows what ECU #65 is. Maybe we should go to the CA forum and ask the CA boys WTF this is. Or maybe ask movingviolation?
