What if I took a 95 wire harness and put in my 96? Would that work? im trying to run the aem stand alone ECU so I can program it myself. or what else can i do for a programable ecu by me?

I don't think so, I believe the 96 did away with the VTC which means you need 96 only

ya but if they did away with it, if i buy the aem ems i should be able to delete that out of the stand alone unit. right thanks Raul

if you plan to run stand alone then you just need a harness compatible with your ems, not familiar with aem but for some stand alones the harness doesnt' matter, get some pigtails and make a harness

If you have a 96, VTC will be restored as soon as you install a 90-94 ECU or standalone. If you use a 90-94 ECU, they use different connectors so you will have to build a harness adaptor or splice in a pre-OBDII connector on your 96 harness. Every 96 I have seen had the VTC solenoids installed, they just sit there in one position with the 96 stock software.

I think that this route is esier (and less $$$) than a standalone. Sure, controlling a standalone with your laptop is very cool.
