ecu harness ?

hey guys, i started looking over something trying to find the problem to my engine cut out and i started looking at wiring. near the ecu attached to the harness is a brown blank connector about 16 pins or so. all of these wires are spliced in the ecu harness. is this for a PFC or something? or is this normal. some of the wires that are pinned in the brown connector lead to the connector for the ecu itself. anyone know what this is for, and or how to remove it?

that is factory, leave it alone.
