Hey everyone, getting ecu error code 34 (detonation sensor) on a CA18DET.

I have removed my detonation sensor and am in the process of getting a new one.

What I would I like to know is the following.

1) Can the ecu run with an error code in it is memory or will the car not run until all errors are cleared?2) Without the detonation sensor connected will the error clear from the ecu as I tried removing power from the battery for a while and error is still there?

Any help appreciated so I can clear this error!

Thanks!

after you replace the sensor, disconnect the ecu from the battery for a few mins, or reset it by using the procedure in the FSM.

Detonation sensors don't go bad. It's only a piezo tweeter-style sensor that detects sharp knock in your motor. You're getting code 34 because you didn't properly connect it when you or whomever wired the car. And it's rare that you willl get code 34 by itself. This code is usually associated with other critical component codes that fail. Check your wiring..............
