ECU difference

I notice there are a few different numbered ECU's, for example, number 76 and 98, whats the difference?

afaik, there are only 4 ecus, 78, 79, 98, 99. 78 and 98 are 5spd, and 79 and 99 are auto. No differences in them that I am aware of other than that.

i thought that auto ones had no speed limiter via fuel cut, not 100% tho

I am sure the EDM cars are different, but I've never seen a japanese ecu with anything other than those 4.
