What other ecu's, specifically ones with external eproms, will directly plug into a ka/s14 harness? what ecus have external eproms (don't require a daughterboard)? so far i think i've found 89-90 ka's, 91-93 sr/ca? are all ecu plugs the same for all nissan models within certain year ranges? during what years did nissan change from obd0>obd1>obd2a>obd2b? are there conversion harnesses for readily avalable for purchase or is it all diy? i though i read somewhere that enthalpy supplied conversion harnesses for s14's but i havent found the harness alone for sale. can i run a 89-90 ecu on my 95 motor after rewiring with no problems, like cel's?

Not sure what you mean by "external EPROM". The only 240SX ECU that can be modded with a simple socket and chip replacement is the SOHC ECU. The rest need a daughterboard and 2, 8 bit chips set up in an odd/even layout, or, 1, 16 bit chip.

To the best of my knowledge you cant run your 95 KA with an 8bit ECU.

Your best bet would be to retro fit your S14 KA to be run with an S13 DOHC ECU (not even sure it can be done). If possible, that would also mean you would have to *possibly* replace several other parts/sensors.

The only benefit to this is the versatility of the S13 ECU.

I do know that you should be able to run an S13 KA24DE with an B13 SR20DE ecu as long as you replace the stock code with KA code. Almost all 13 series ecu's use the same motherboard (i.e. B13, S13, S13SR, NX2000 etc....). Theres also a cool trick using a DB'ed DOHC S13 ecu that allows you to eliminate your Knock/AIV/EGR systems inside the ECU.

Knock: Its a pressure based sensor, it doesnt necessarilly always need to switch you to the "knock map"<---which sucks, and robs HP....you just better know knock when you hear it.

Subtracting 128 from any HEX value in your timing map that reads above 128 will eliminate the "knock" function in your ECU. This means your ECU will always read from the better of the two timing maps.

EGR/AIV: by removing it you get.....a cleaner engine bay, cleaner intake trac, less often throttle body cleanings. To do this....replace your OEM KA24DE code with a Blue Bird SR20DET bin file. Then you adjust your timing and fuel accordingly. If your running a T25 with 370cc's then really you will only need to tweak the timing and fuel maps. A MAF change is also necessary (a FWD SR20DE MAF should work <---not 100% postive on the MAF choice).
