This is a noob question, but I need an answer. How do you reset the codes thrown out by the ECU? In the FSM it says to switch modes back to mode 1 from mode 2 and the codes will be reset. I do this and I still get the same codes coming up. The other way is to disconnect your battery for 24 hr, this is what I'm doing now.

I'm getting three codes: -code 11, crank angle sensor, code 12 MAF, this was self induced to check the diagnostics and is why I would like to reset it.Code 13, engine temperature sensor. The check engine light does not come on when the car is runninng, and never has. If I did have a problem with code 11 or 12, shouldn;t that light stay on?

Vitals, 92 KA24DE freshly rebuilt with 8.8:1 pistons, still have the stock injectors and MAF for the time being as I want to break the engine in naturally aspirated.

The car does idle fine and runs smooth under load, but it does make a weird ticking noise inder slight application of the throttle, almost a rattle. Step into it and the noise is gone. Thought it might be valve train but I checked all the clearances twice, and they are good. Base timing is bang on at 20 BTDC. I'm currently going through all the sensors to make sure that they are all functioning properly and will be checking the fuel pressure as well. All nuts and bolts were torqued to specs and have been doubled checked. Can't find it yet..........

I don't know if what I did was the only way, but once I was sure that the problem was fixed, I read that the check engine light will stay on for 50 ignition starts. I didn't want to wait that long, so I disconnected the negative battery terminal for a few minutes and put it back on. The check engine light apparently reset, because I haven't had any problems since then and it has stayed off.
