I have a 99 Infiniti I-30 Limited, which I believe uses the VQ30DE engine if I did my homework correctly. The car wouldn't start, so I had to have it towed to my local mechanic. The mechanic checked it out and said that it was not receiving the injector pulse and that the ECU had gone bad. He said that I would have to take it to a dealer to be replaced because only they could flash the ECU. I've been checking around and it seems like I can get an ECU for this car for around 150 bucks, and also it seems from other posts that this is a fairly easy replacement. I was hoping that one of the gurus could help point me in the right direction with this dilemma. I bought the car for around 4500 bucks and I don't really want to put another 2 grand into it for an ECU. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Need a Consult II with a NAT card......to transfer ecu data.

Most mechanics are lost with post 1995 OBD2 ecu [what you need is a well trained certified by Nissan TECHNICAN]............ get a second opinion as ecu failures are the rarest of rare in Nissans.

Probably something simple like crank/cam angle senor failure.

What one pays for a used car has little to do with what it cost to repair because spare replacement parts are priced against the new car price.
