My daughter has a 2001 Maxima GLE with the proverbial blown IAC and ECU problem. I have ordered and received both the IAC and ECU with matching numbers. However, I know that I will have to have the new ECU programmed to my key to make the car start. Is it possible to drive the car to the dealership with the old ECU hooked up along with the old and bad IAC. Then unhook the old ECU and connect the new ECU and have them re-key it? I am worried that the bad IAC will blow my new ECU if they have to turn on the car to do this procedure. Is it possible to install the new IAC valve and drive it with the old ECU without damaging it? Supposedly, the IAC is what blows the ECU, not the other way around. Any thoughts on this would be strongly appreciated.

I'm under the impression that your right on the failure order as well. While I can't guarantee that it's true, I think you could probably install the new IAC and leave it unplugged for the drive over. You'll have to feather the throttle to keep it from stalling out coming to stops and such, but doable.
