EcoAuto Rebate in Canada cancelled

The EcoAuto rebate offered here in Canada (by the gov) has been cancelled after the 2008 model year. The rebate was offered on 2007 and 2008 model year vehicles that obtained the lowest fuel mileage of it's class. FWD Rogue's were eligible for a $1000 rebate under the program.

I am still waiting for my rebate... only a couple of weeks have passed but I should receive it before Dec 31, 2008 when the program is officially cancelled.

i just got a letter saying my was being processed. i sent my app. in feb 21st.

I was surprised when I heard the news that it was ending! I just looked at an article about it http://www.canada.com/calgaryh...8d6ca which stated that the Canadian government dished out $30 million dollars through the program- which means it was good and people were using it!

My Rogue didn't apply but I think it's unfortunate that more people will not be able to take advantage later on.

Does this mean that the automakers win... again?

No, it's the government's way of finding money to fund thier new budget. Thier excuse was the program was only intended to be run for 2 yrs.

So has anyone received their rebate yet? I sent mine in at the end of Feb and just got a letter last week telling me they had my form.

I have the same letter. Rebate form was sent early March. Nothing has come yet.

Did you get the letter beforehand? If so, when... just trying to see what kind of lag time there is between getting the letter and getting the moola. I could really use the moola right now.

i sent the paper work in on feb 21st and got the letter march 20 saying it was being processed.so the lag from letter to cheque was around a month.

I sent the form on or about March 7th. I recieved confirmation via a letter dated March 19th. The rebate cheque just arrived today ... April 25.

Seems like your application was late getting processed. I applied later than you but had my confirmation letter come a month earlier. Wierd.
