Man, I am getting sick and tired of this ECCS bull. I reworked my entire tune today. Got AF ratios where I want in boost area but that damn tip in is sending me into the 9s. Plus, it goes super rich above 5500.

Perhaps the 5500 issue can be tweeked out but my cruising ratios are all wacked despite being set for stoich. One minute it's 13.9 and the next 11.9 with no major change in throttle. It's like this thing has a mind of it's own. And closed loop - forget about it.

Although I got a good 11.8 in boost this just isn't how a high performance car should run. I'm going MegaSquirt. F*** this ECCS crap!

Have you looked into getting a Calum RealTime ECU? Decently priced, plus you can tune it in the car while the car is running. It also has data logging. I'll probably go that route this summer...

Google it, and you should find it at the forum where 240 owners went the Ess-arr route. I didn't want to post a link to a different forum out of respect for this forum...

Also, just browse through the section of the forums dedicated to Calum.

thats weird... when gabe tuned my ECU I had a solid 14.7 -15 a/f's while cruising on the highway and then around 11 or so a/f's in boost. I was very satisfied with my tune and driviability except the open BOV problem.

Are you guys running the DE or the E? The DE is much further ahead.

I have been able to make a decent tune and I'm going to be at it again tomorrow but it's just too buggy for me. Fact is, even if you have a tune that seems to run well, nobody knows exactely what is going on in that ECU. How do we know there are not undetectible issues that are gradually degrading valves & pistons? How do we know there are not lean spots or small timing fluctuations that may not be evident right away but might break or burn up your motor over time?

Everybody with an E motor I have spoken with has an issue with a super rich tip in and I know for a fact that Gabe nor anybody else has found how to get rid of it. And I am running the EC3 code.

BTW, "EC" stands for "experimental code" so you do the math.

Any way, my friend teaches software engineering at a local tech college and he might be able to hook me up with a prof who might be willing help me tune the MegaSquirt on their dyno as a type of class demonstration deal. I can't pass that up.

Isn't that the tune I burned for you that you said was running way too rich?

No I don't believe so. Gabe sent me another one because i was having problems with the open BOV. I recircd. it and that solved the problem.

Good luck with your tune!

Please change the title of this thread because it makes you look like a n00b.

All you gotta do is fix your intake pipe, brother! Make the recirc fitting slashed facing towards the turbo and get a BOV that doesnt surge. If you still cant remedy the surging or BOV fitting, try the stock MAFS because it only measures flow into the engine, not both ways like the Z32 MAFS.
