alright well sense i bought my 240 about 2 years ago, my ebrake has never really worked i have replaced the back brakes and everything, even the calipers still nothing, i have tightened up the cable and still its weak as hell, basicly i have to pull it all the way up and it still takes forever to slow my car down even from 20MPH, i know in most cars when u pull the ebrake the back brakes practicly lock up.. im wondering if mine dosnt work vary good because i have disk brakes in the back? or is there somthing wrong with my brake system?

thanks-Tyler

Check your brake lines, bleed your brakes properly, bed your pads and make sure rotors are in ok shape.

check your ebrake lines. Make sure that they're ok. If they're ok, check the adjuster screw too. It's in that little hole of your ebrake boot.

the line may be old and stretched...but check the adjuster screw first.

ive tighented the ajuster screw quite a few times, it still dosnt grab like it should.. its like my brake pads are made of glass it just keeps sliding.. i mean it kinda slows me down but it should almost lock up the tires when i pull it up and it just dosnt :( its never worked quite right even from when i first bought it.. it just kinda worrys me because if i swap my transmission and make my car 5speed then im going to have to use it and it might let go and my car will go rolling into the river or somthing... hmm

tighten it more. you'll be surprised at how expensive each of those ebrake cables are. if you've an s13, there are 3, one for each rear wheel, and the one that connects to both of those cables to the ebrake handle. I've been quoted by courtesy parts about 200 for all 3. Tighten it more and see what happens. If your pads are shot, change them, if your rotors are shot, change those too. The ebrake cables are expensive to replace so check other things and make sure those aren't the culprits.

If you changed everything and it still doesn't work, then it has to be the ebrake cables eh?

check the connections on the ebrake cables. Also if you've done a brake caliper change on the rear, make sure that the ebrake cables aren't twisted. If they are, you've found your answer. Also you may want to check over the seals on the rear calipers and possibly do a rebuild on them. If your seals are shot, then your pistons aren't gonna grab. I know mine are fairly weak in the rear because of the seals on my passengers side so that's something you may want to have a look at.
