ok so basically my ebrake light is on and my battery light flickers only before certain rpm. There is this buzzing noise coming from my instrutment cluster area, and my battery light will flicker when I start the car, but once im passed like 2k rpm it goes away! I just replaced the alternator (used one). I unplug the altenator and then it stops the noise and flickering. I also have a voltmeter and its reading a charge of 14 volts so the alternator is still charging, I also checked all fuses, and its all good. soooooooo whats going on?! could it be fualty wiring? please help!

Couple things i would check... first for the ebrake light. pull your ashtray ie drink holder cover and check the uno wire that is going to your ebrake. i had a similar problem and found that my ebrake wire was loose and was grounding out which would cause it to flicker. as for the battery light my noob *** when i was first in to 240sx had the same problem and changed my battery and alternator several times found out it was my damn belt. never hurts to change and inexpensive. all my readings were good as well but still once i changed that damn belt she ran great. Also if the battery is old i would probably replace that to to knock it out of the equation.. hope that helps.

first off make sure you have good amount of brake fluid if it is low it will make the ebrake light come on, as far as the electric problem make sure the main fuse that goes to the altinator is still good, i also had that problem and the fuse was blown

sorry to bump an ollld *** thread but to the OP, did you figure out if it was the belt not tight enough?, i just had my s13 parked over winter and it is doing this ticking noise, i've narrowed it down to a large connector near the fuse box kick panel

if anyone could have some insight to this problem it would be much appreciated,

tnx in advance!

This is funny. I am having this same exact issue as well.

My ebake light and battery light are flickering, and the lights are faint. Also, there is a continuous ticking/clicking coming from the fuse panel at the kick panel. When rthe engine is revved, somewhere over 1k, the ticking stops or lessens, and the lights go off. I' can only assume it's an electrical issue here.

Battery is good, haven't got the alternator tested, but my guess is that is isn't either of those.

Anyone got a clue?

This came after someone just recently hit my car. Don't really know if that has a connection.

For those of you testing the alternator you must test it with heater, headlights, brights and AC on. I don't know how many alternators I've tested that were fine w/o a load on it. A good charging system wont drop below. 13.7 under a load.
