2 weeks ago I called EBC Brakes(30 miles away from me) to ask about pad life expectancy. My brakes started squealing really bad the previous week and was thinking it's time to swap and machine down my DBA Rotors. I checked my service records and I changed them out 16K miles ago which isn't a lot but they are performance pads and I do offroad. After measuring the pads the EBC rep came to the conclusion the time has come. He recommended that I call Place For Brakes in Florida for the best price and they would place a drop ship order that day (Wednesday) and I'll get them by Thursday and can perform the work Friday.

I ordered an adapter for my buddy's Motive brake bleeder system, got some new 6ton jack stands, brake fluid, etc. Thursday the pads didn't arrive. Friday I call the company that I ordered them through, they put me on hold and called EBC. EBC gave them some BS excuse that they're dealing with the Labor Day rush even though Labor Day hadn't hit yet. I called the following Wednesday(1 week later) and they still hadn't shipped out even though they've been in stock since April. Over the weekend my brakes started grinding. Great now I've got scored rotors all because EBC hasn't come through.

I called EBC to explain the situation and they were extremely sympathetic. They asked for pics of the rotors and said that they would replace them for free. I took the pics and got approved. I explained that I'm currently running DBA slotted rotors and want to replace them with something as good. So today I received 2 beautiful Sport Rotors that retail for over twice as much as my current DBA's. I was so stoked until I realized that THEY STILL HADN'T SENT OUT THE PADS! Are you freaking kidding me? So they'll send out $550 in free parts but not my $110 original order. I called immediately and they had someone grab the pads and walk them down to the shipping dept and watch them leave the facility. so if they do show up tomorrow it will be exactly 2 weeks after the initial order was placed. Their customer service is awesome, John and Chris Noah have been a huge help it's really their shipping dept that lacks any sort of order. Place for Brakes was top notch with this whole situation as well and said that this isn't the first time the shipping dept has screwed up an order.

Here's a pic of one of the rotors, just beautiful!

Tomorrow I'm having my turbine sensor assembly replaced in my trans and I'll get to jump in there and work on the brakes while it's on the lift. Thankfully the shop owner owes me and has no problem letting me do one side while one of his mechanics does the other free of charge.

Meh, I would just throw on some nice oem pads, but that's just me. It's not a racecar.

Pretty cool that they sent you some badass rotors though.

meh... they just don't like you

EBC is a great company and treats all the SCCA guys i know very well... of course none of the SCCA guys care about squeaky brakes either because that's what a track pad does... it squeaks :gotme

If you ready my post I'm not crying because they squeal, the thickness is below tolerance. YellowStuff pads usually squeal for the first 2 depressions. Once they warm up they're good to go.

UPDATE
I just received a call from Place for Brakes. Chris from EBC had called them to let me know that the YellowStuff pads were sent back to England to be machined down because they're too thick for my rotors. The new ETA is sometime next week. Place for Brakes offered to sell me some temporary pads at their cost for in interim but I'd rather not spend any more money. I don't really understand this as my last set I ordered from AutoPartsWarehouse was in stock and didn't have to be machined.

You're right. I figured last year that if I'm going to change out rotors and pads why not do better than OEM. That usually seems to be the wrong choice but so far this pad/rotor combo had been nothing short of amazing. We'll see how these new ones perform if I ever get them on.

I love the EBC green stuff pads. They tend to last long.

Well I finally got the pads last week, 3 weeks to the day of the initial order. Here's a few phone pics, I'll take some cool macro shots of the destroyed rotors because they're gnarled.

Why the heck did they send them to England to get machined... they couldn't find a local machine shop to do it?

Seriously, you put Yellows on an SUV? Did EBC recommend you do that? Did you know they have a line of SUV pads?

Seriously yes I did. Look at the first pic of the pads, it says Truck and SUV. Anything else?

Supposedly their last shipment of all of their pads were out of spec. That's why they didn't send me a temp set of the ultramax or greenstuff pads which would have been much cheaper then sending me $550 worth of rotors. At least that's what they told me.

The tolerance for the nuts is so tight that the only way to get a socket in there is for it to match up perfectly. So yes it's safe.

Neither, they're YellowStuff. I had them before and they lasted me about 16K miles which is apparently acceptable for high performance pads. I also do some higher speed desert off-roading with my rig so it's puts a little more stress on the braking system. They squeal when cold upon the first few compressions but once they're warm they're whisper quiet.

Your thread title is dramatically misleading.

They didn't F you at all, you got $500 of free stuff and your pads arrived. Oh the horror.

They did, but they made up for it. Another positive/contributing post from Dattebayo! Give it up for the NICO curmudgeon!

If I'm a curmudgeon, then you're a drama queen.

You made out awesome with that whole shenanigan there, so why would you fu*k with them and make a thread titled "EBC fu*ked me"?
They worked with you, and yet you still spit in their face like that. Sorry I voiced my opinion.

My original threat title was "EBC Brakes F'd me, then did me good, then F'd me again, and then did me a solid" but it wouldn't fit. Thanks for your opinion though. I would love to see a thread where you post something positive about someone or something. You seem like an extremely miserable person.

Oh, I don't compare to you, dear sir. My pain and anguish cannot compare to that of you getting screwed by having to receive new rotors and late brake pads.

WOW! Glad to hear that they took care of you so, so well. Sucks that your pads didn't come fast enough and that it all could've been avoided, but damn, good job.

Trust me I'm glad I came out on top BUT driving with constant brake fade for 2 weeks is not safe. I would have been just as happy getting my pads on time and machining down my EBC rotors. I'm about to start the bedding process on these and will soon find out if the sport rotors offer any kind of improvement. I should also be receiving some stainless brake lines next week and will be flushing the system so that should make a HUGE difference considering I've never done a flush.

I agree with Dave on this one and Jesus Christ man check your pads once and a while...(even though 16k is a fairly quick time to be replacing them...slotted rotors don't help the cause though)
