A friend of mine (non-Z guy, but in the market for one) linked me to this Z for sale, and asked me what I thought of the car.

It's evident from the way the ad is written that the owner has no clue about Z cars, especially reading his Q & A at the bottom.

$40 off-brand tires
Cracked dash
240Z emblems on the fenders (please tell me those weren't drilled on)
And the paint... An "investment" Z should be repainted in the original color, if not original paint. This thing must have been painted in Tijuana. Incorrect color, pearl flakes, stripes that don't compliment the car, overspray on the muffler and VIN plate, painted over the strut tower bolts and hood hinges and God-knows-what else...

<sigh>

Don't get me wrong, I'll be stoked when S30's start commanding astronomical prices, but ads like this just make people leery.

Anyone that pays that kind of money for that car needs to have their head examined.....you could have bought a Nissan restored one for alittle more back in 1993-4, I am sure some of those nissan restores are rolling around somewhere. This car is a 6k max, tell me if I'm wrong hitman, but seems way out of line.

The orange '72 that I helped Jason restore earlier this year was all original, with white interior. Everything was totally original, just cleaned up, resealed, etc. The interior vinyl was redone in OEM material, all the suspension / engine / etc was removed, restored, replaced... and the only thing we DIDN'T do was the paint (we left the original patina intact).

It sold on ebay for $6100 to a Japanese gentleman who worked for Nissan for 19 years.

This seller is a clown.

There's a reason there are zero bids on it.

that guy is way off base on his price but;
IIRC those badges and taped on only
not a fan of the graphics
on a high vin series 2 chassis correct paint color isn't going to be a major factor
(i actually know a guy with 4 series 1 chassis, 2 of which are already overrestored in non factory colors, and the one he's working on now is chassis #76 and it's 350z redline, I'd have kept that one stock)
thats not a bad car, for 3-4k, for 16k it shoudl be a series 1 vin all origional
