For those of you who have been asking about valvetrain upgrades and where to buy the parts, this is for you.

Tomei valvesprings that are good for higher lifting cams. It's a better price than what I've seen on some sites.

Pretty sure you can use them with stock cams or mild aftermarkets. They just state the amount of lift their good up to.

so these will work with the stock retainers?the Jun ones are $220 off taka kaira but I can't find out if they are stock style or if they need the $406 titanium JUN retainers.

"These springs are the only ones available from Tomei on the CA engine and are recommended for cams with up to 10.35mm of lift."

I would upgrade the retainers with those springs. I have heard of a few instances where the stock retainers crack from the increased spring rate. (not on a CA, but I am sure its doesnt matter what motor it is)

Yes. Upgrade the retainers when upgrading the springs. I have proof the stock ones aren't up to the task.

Stock retainers work just fine. Yours just failed and they don't commonly fail which tells me your engine was possibly abused and/or neglected. I've been dealing with the CA for 10years now and I've never had a retainer failed. Just go buy some stock pulsar retainers. They will hold up just fine.

Yes mine failed because of abuse, but not neglect. I had JUN springs and stock retainers and after about six months of 9500rpm every weekend one retainer broke.

If you want cheap TI retainers, Race Engineering has VG ones for about $250.

if you were running the engine to 9500 rpm you shoulda said that to start with, mine isn't going to exceed 8k. I think I'll stick with stock and get a set of tomei or jun springs. anyone have any opinions as to which is better?
