This is an opinion/experience poll on Ebay turbos - and stuff.

What is your take on all those knock off brands and "salvage & spit shine" dealers?

Be specific - don't just say "all Ebay stuff sucks or I'd never buy knock off stuff."

i.e. my friend bought a used/ knock off T3 supposedly in good condition and it exploded.

What's the scoop on guys like "SS Autochrome" and "Spooled Motorsports," anybody ever buy from these guys?

Any of those knock off waste gates any good?

How about those cheep racing seats?

Most people talk trash. I have never had a turbo from them so I am not sure. I know of another fellow on the RB forum who was running one at 10psi for months, with no problems. I have the SSAC intercooler and it's quality is pretty good. I will be getting the mani and WG and trying those out too. I would just be inclined to think that a turbo is too important to take a chance on, but I won't tell you that they are junk, because I don't PERSONALLY know.

Who is WG and what happened? I see so many ads that are obviously for junkyard garbage that was "test spun" whatever that means. What, with a shop vac?

LOL WG is not a person its short for WASTEGATE. when people say the turbo is test spun... prob just means they spun it with their hand it it spins free. IMHO i say just go to one of our sponsors and get a rebuilt turbo. they are not that expensive and you will have a better piece of mind knowing the turbo will last.

Ohhhhh, what did you have a Tial knock off? Did it fail? I understand that happens often.

Yes, I would still like to know if anyone has anything good to say about the SSAC WGs?

Any way to get ahold of the manufacturer of that waste gate?

If this has happened to a lot of people, I'm thinking class action lawsuit.

Afraid that even if there was, it is a Chinese Company. Sunny Electronics..., and American Civil Law, or even English Common Law, have no place in an Eastern Communist Society. Talk to your lawyer, he/she will tell you the same. That is why all of this **** is made in China, 0 liability. Also, it is my understanding that some of the early Boost D and IAP kits used ebay Chinese comps. And a lot of people have had good luck there. Personally, I am using the SSAC IC and will definately use the mani, and may use the WG (if their quality is as good as the IC, respectively).

Yah it's about impossible to get ahold of a Chinese manufacturer.

What about blow off valves, anybody know of any good cheep BOVs?

Not a big deal if a BOV fails.

I've had 2 differetnt manifolds, one upper and one lower mount, both were of very poor quality, I made better myself my very first try.

I've also had contracts with 2 sepreate turbo dealers who reman turbo's in house and sell them, or source parts cheap, both contracts fell through and the turbo's themselves were also of poor quality. I did my homework on alot of this 2 years ago when I was starting WDRacing as a performance shop here in Tucson.

Cheap turbo's and manifolds are not a good buy IMO, the IC's seem to be ok however. Same with some BOV's and assorted stuff like couplers and whatnot. But it's like ebay has always been...shopper beware..search and snipe.
