Generally eBay turbos are garbage. But, with an oil restrictor, it might last a couple months. Just keep in mind, You get what you pay for.

Theres like two threads on this exact same topic currently visible on the Ka-T page. You should read up on those, good info.

Relax man...

If rebuilt they are actually quite useable turbo's. They may not be as good as a genuine Garret unit, but they DO work. You just need to know what needs swapped out in order to use them.

Don't call it a beast because on our 2.4 liter engines that turbo will be very slow on spooling up. A turbo like that would have strong boost at 6000 rpm. The 1.0 A/R is way to big. Most 2200cc to 2500cc engines benefit the best with a turbo with a .76 to .82 a/r on the turbine side and a .50 to .60 on the compressor side. With a turbo with those size a/rs then your boost would come in around 3000 to 3500 RPM. I hope this helps you a little. Go buy a K27, they have strong boost onset at 2600 rpm and it runs all the way through 6800 at 18psi then drops to about 14 at 7200. Thats my personal choice.

Also depends on the frame size, T2, T3 and T4...a .83 AR T4 will be very laggy.

I'm sorry, I was reffering to that model turbo which appears to be a Chinese knockoff of a Garrett TB41. I worked at Michigan Turbo for a couple years before Nissan and we saw a few of these, most of which had a XS POWER logo cast in the compressor housing and most of them had junk CHRA which we replaced with Garrett's.The TB41 was used on medium sized John Deere tractor and Mercedes flat nose box truck diesels. They were designed for high flow at mid rpm on 4 to 6 liter engines. What caught my eye was the fact that it looked just like my TB41 that is in my back garage with same size slip fit and measurements which is for a John Deere, even has John Deere green painted CHRA and compressor housing.

That is why I said what I said about the turbo referenced as the topic of this thread. Sorry for any misunderstanding, it was not just a general statement about turbos.

If I had my choice I would personally buy another TO4E with a divided T3 exhaust housing with a .76 turbine A/R and .60 compressor A/R so I would have almost immediate boost at about 2800 rpm, but the downside is about 20 psi max boost. Then again in all honesty I would say only 20% of ka-t owners are pushing upwards of 20 psi. I ran one on my H22 Prelude for a while and it was a blast.

The EBay turbo's aren't to bad if you change out the bushings and seals. They use a garbage material for the bushings, hence the failures.

The T3/TO4E is definitly the best suited turbo for the KA. The .63 AR and stg III wheel exhaust housing mated to the TO4E compressor in 50 trim is good for upwards of 450whp and more then 20 psi.

I didn't think you could get a divided flange on the T3 exhaust housing?

possible fix for ebay turbo .

step 1 -buy a rebuild kit.step 2 - dis mantle turbostep 3- send wheels to be blanacedstep 4- replace internals (seals thrust bearing and journal bearings)step 5- re assemble w/ newly balanced wheel.step 6- enjoy

rebuilds usually cost 2-300 if you send them out.

if you do it your self its like 150 in parts and labor.. typically 100 for a rebuild kit depending on parts.. and about 50-70 for balancing the wheels... you dont need to get the center section glass beeded if the turbo hasnt been used yet.. so it may work out well...

Yes they do, but I believe the smallest A/R is .63 then .70. I found this sold by ATP. On the side it gives you the order option for the divided housing. Also found this thread on DSMtuners.
