I don't know if this is proper protocol or what....

....but if the price stays reasonable, I intend to bid on a set of infiniti tires/rims that are on e-bay. I am trying to find out if the tires are useable. I am trying to get rid of the pie pans...just don't want to spend a ton of money.

What rims are they? Do you have a link? There's a nice set of the BBS style ones fron the active model that look nice. The tires shold have a load index of a least 95. If they are these..

then I don't think they're adequate. I was looking at those and the tires had a smaller diamiter than stock and had a load index of 94. I'm not an expert, so let other people give their two cents.

One must assume that used wheels will almost always be out of oem specifications. My experience with buying sets [on Ebay] has been that I must reserve $150-$300 [to have 1 or 2 of them retrued] out of 4 wheels.

Aftermarket wheels are even worse as there are no bend specifications.

I bought 10 wheels to get 4 goods ones then sold the 6 out of spec wheels to a local wheel shop on another ocassion.

Be careful about buying other peoples problems.

I am somewhat concerned about buying them....trying to see if they come with a very inexpensive price tag.

they are OEM 16's from a 97 Infiniti.

The only way to know what you have bought is to have them measured on a Hunter 9700 machine. A quick and dirty check is to just mount JUST the wheels on a conventional balancer and make sure they require less than 5-7 grams [<1/4 ounce] per side to balance.

They can be further damaged in shipping.

You would be surprised at how many wheels on new Nissans don't meet factory specs when they are transferred to owners.

Here is a place that my friend had his 20" BBS wheel repaired after he bent the crap out of it. It came back perfect and balanced up on the 9700 Hunter with no problem

We all know many wheels can be repaired the question is does the buyer reserve adequate funds and how good a deal is it if you have to spend an extra $600 to fix the wheels.Since most decent wheels retail new for $400-$600 each, at the best case paying $200 each [and then spending $150 each for repairs] is probably a good deal...........consider freight/insurance costs.

Ths shipping is key, if they know how to ship the CHEAP via UPS, if they do slow boat from china it is cheap. Those rims came on my 97 and they pretty solid, if you can pay 200 bucks or so I do not see how you can go wrong.

I have found FedEX 3-day ground t obe nearly half of UPS!

I have shipped 3 sets of wheels/tires across the country, and saved a lot of money, for myself, and other eBay buyers.

You get what you pay for. Sellers, on eBay should know that they will get less, than if they sell in person.

I am just watching the bidding.... i am aware of the shipping costs.... this isn't really an emotional buy....just an opportunity to ditch a set of pie pans.
