Slowly working on accumulating suspension components and it's time to get new RUCA's, Tension Rods, etc. The question is, who has used the ebay stuff and how is the quality? I know, you are all going to tell me you get what you pay for, but I don't have the cash to dump on a nice set of SPL parts. So, if they are decent, it's worth the monetary savings, but if the quality is subpar, I would rather save my pennies awhile longer and buy something a little more reliable. So, anyone use this stuff?

For example:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1h ... rs...&rd=1

We sell the Cusco S14 rear upper control arms because they are the best on the market for the S14 right now. The shaft portion is thicker, stronger, and better made. There is a better geometry found withen the arm as well. The rod end is of higher quality as well.

Our "Pro" series arms are made from chrome plated chromoly steel. Not painted mild steel. Our arms are made in Japan, not Taiwan and if you know anything about Japanese labor and quality standards than you can appreciate that fact. Notice our arms have one locking nut set, not two. This makes the arm stronger and less prone to failure. Our rod ends are also alot better quality and use a thicker thread portion to further strenghten the component.

That and you'll be buying from a respected company, not some guy on ebay. We have full technical awareness of what our products can and can't do, and how to set them up as well. How accessable is that guy on Ebay when you're trying to setup your toe or camber settings? Even if you could get ahold of him I doubt he has the technical prowess that our company has when it comes to the 240SX and Z32.

Also keep in mind that this isn't like buying a set of cheap wheels. This is a load bearing component in the suspension that if it failed, could cause you to lose control of the car. Do you really trust your life to Ebay suspension for the sake of saving a little money? I know I don't. I mean that personally (as in not from an SPL point of view) ... one thing you should NEVER shortchange yourself on it safety. It's not an engine... it's an irrepairable life.

This is EXACTLY what I was going to say.

And god damn that RUCA looks beefy. Even my Cusco RUCA doesn't look that good.

I know that, and trust me, if I had the money to drop on SPL parts right now, I would be ALL OVER IT. I generally go to the SPL site as a reference (and dream), but I just don't have that kind of cash right now (starving student). What I'm asking is whether of not the ebay stuff is crap, not whether or not the SPL stuff is better (I KNOW the answer to this). If the answer is yes, that the ebay stuff is crap (thin material, poor welds, etc), then I will NOT risk the safety of myself, my passengers, or my car to save the cash.

I figure it like this, there ARE deals out there, so it's always worth investigating the cheaper stuff, just not always worth following up on. :D

well i went the SPL route and after looking very closely at the constuction of them, i wouldn't trust going with the ebay stuff...as that is what i originally intended to do as well.

I think you'll be happier if you just wait until you can afford to do it, and do it right. At least you won't have to do it again if you do that. More cost effective in the long run.

yeah, brian broke one. but it was a battle version. and it didn't break because of drifting. more than likely from stress due to stiffness; he has zeal SUPER FUNCTION 10/8 coilovers. And it was like a super old version ruca. like one of the first ever made. Alex gave him a new set of RUCA's for free.

oh. heh. well id bet the only way to brake a cusco/kazama/nams ruca would be to crash.

Eh, you're right. I'll be waiting and getting the good stuff. I don't even have my coilovers yet.

chmercer, didn't you email me about some HE's? I lost the email, but what's up with them? How much are you looking to sell them for?
