I bought eBay suspension bars for about 50 bucks with shipping. I knew I could not use the upper rear bar.. but found out I could not use the lower rear also. Are the convertible exhaust piping different?

Are you talking about Sway Bar? Did you buy Godspeed package or something?

The eBay ad said "For Nissan 240SX S13 89 90 91 92 93 94 ONLY"

"Fits all Sedan, Coupe and Hatch Back Models with different engine spec. "

So I guess convertibles are so different?

The "Fits all Sedan" & "Nissan 240sx" should have tipped you off that whoever posted the auction either 1) mass produced these and/or 2) don't know about any real specifics about the 240sx.

All s13 suspension arms bolt on the same for all s13's (w/ minor reservations for things like rear ladder bars, which aren't really sold anymore anyway).

I am curious if any convertible owners have rear upper and rear lower bars from eBay that fit without modification.

yeah I would agree that the whole notion of a 240sx sedan should have been a red flag. eBay is great if you can find the right part because in some cases, they can actually be better than name brands while being much cheaper, but the greatest challenge is making sure it is the right part.

I've got FleaBay RUCAs on my vert and they were fine - other than being cheap ching-ping crap.

Sorry, I don't understand what parts are you referring to. What is this "rear lower bar"? Is it a sway bar since you mention exhaust piping?

"Rear upper bar" means that goes to between rear strut towers? If so, it won't work because there's a metal bracket welded between rear strut towers. That bracket is already enough for out vert.

Or are you talking about RUCA(Rear Upper Camber Arm) and Toe Control Rod?

Do you have a link to eBay auction? I'm curious.

More or less, OP is probably talking about this:

And for those who are wondering, 89-94 are all the same @ that point, regardless of hatch, coupe, vert.

That being said, I bought one of these a LONGGGGG time ago when they first came out from Megan Racing. Part wasn't even long enough to fit my s13 (since these are adjustable, they list one item for a range of vehicles). I let them know, but they refused to do anything about it - stating that it works (hope they've fixed the issue by now).

The pic is not of the version I had, so they probably fixed it (mine looked like their first generation strut bars w/ the polish aluminum & logo).

And as 94_240sx said, rear strut bars don't fit our cars unless you get one that bends backward toward the trunk - and even then, some trimming of the rear "firewall" may be necessary. Of course, OP already noted he could not use the rear upper.

If that's what your talking about, stay away from the cheapies! I got one of the cheap combos of front/rear upper strut bars and rear lower tie bar. I quickly figured out the rear upper wasn't going to work nor was necessary, and the rear lower tie bar wasn't long enough. It was the silver aluminum semi-flat/elliptical bar that's polished.

This is mine and it's adjustable. I think I paid $16-17 shipped on eBay. Fits perfect. This bar has nothing to do with exhaust piping, so I was confused.

Yeah! That's the one I had too and it didn't fit... Mine was too short.

These are threaded, so you can adjust the length of it. Check it again if you haven't thrown away yours. Well, it won't do any good, but at least you can put it on and use it.

I am and was aware of that. I could only get a couple threads engaged on either side and not both at the same time. It was frustrating. I think I was sent the wrong one. This was a couple years ago when we had the white vert.

That's the exact problem I had, could only engage it @ max 1-2 threads. Wouldn't stay connected.

Oh! That sucks. Typical eBay parts I guess.

Did they do that crap? I hate companies who do that. Phase2motortrend and NRG did that to me with other parts that wouldn't fit. I had to go through Paypal claim to get my money back. On the other hand, FRSport and 88Rotors gave me refund right away without questions after they saw some pics.

Well it was a long time ago when Megan Racing first came into the market.

I bought the part from eBay, so return shipping would have killed it. The company put me in contact w/ Megan Racing directly.

Megan Racing refused, telling me something is wrong w/ my car (at that time, basically completely stock & never been in a major accident).

Yea, from then on, I just found it easier to deal w/ local shops or take the hit when I buy shifty looking parts.

For me, it's usually when I have labor performed on the car that I get screwed. Parts I'm usually okay.

Good thing that rear lower tie bar was really cheap & isn't very functional anyway
