My tension rod bushings are nonexistent on my s14 and I'm outta work right now so trying to not spend like $100+ on Circuit Sport or Megan. I'm gonna look for decent used ones but I found these on ebay...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSAN-8 ... 4cec53dfeb

Yeah $60 shipped :frown: I just wanna know if anyone has heard about someone using these? I know I should hold off til I can get legot ones but just wondering if these are complete junk, the search feature was being funky so I decided to just post up.

Thx Tim

Dont cheap out on suspension. Thats never a good idea. Just get these:

Make sure you get black. The red ones dont have graphite in them.

More than a few people have reported cracking their tension rods when using polyurethane bushings. They are notorious for greatly increasing friction in the bearing. If you aren't up for the cost/ride quality of some quality heim jointed tension rods, I would check out SPC's replacement. It is rubber like the stock piece, but of a higher durometer (probably because its not goo filled) and adjustable.

Thats why you need the black ones, they're self lubricating.

I've never heard this rumor.

I've know a few people to have cracke their FLCA when using poly bushing on the TC rod instead of a hiem joint.

To me the TC rod is so simple that its hard to mess up, I wouldn't mind going with an ebay one. I have the megan ones on my Vert without an issue.

The manufacturer would have you believe that, but every piece of anecdotal evidence I can find says thats just a marketing gimmick. I also have to wonder why they would offer awesome, self lubricating bushings AND crappy non-self lubricating bushings for the same application.

I once read an article on the subject and if I can find it I'll post a link. It was basically talking about the bushings from a chemical analysis pov. It argued that its chemically impossible to combine urethane and graphite together. Therefore if anything, it might have some graphite on the surface, or perhaps some inside some pores cast into the bushing. Either way eventually they will need to be greased just the same as regular "non-graphite impregnated" bushings.

I think OEM they were like $80 or less. I'd recommend OEM.

Buying the bearing requires me to then have the bearings pressed out, plus I'd rather just upgrade.

I also realize since it says s13/s14 that it's probably s13 lenght and I'd have to max out the adjustment to fit on my 14 since 13's are 1/2" shorter so scrappin this failboat idea

No. . . Don't listen to this noob. Me and him installed circuit sport tension rods on our cars at the same time. . . And he complains that they suck. . . But damn, they do their jobs perfectly on my S14. . . Holds the alignment, works much better than those crappy OEM ones. . .

That is all. . .

Circuit sports and megan started on ebay. Idk if you all remember that, but all megan parts used to be equivalent to ebay parts. My fiance has used the cheapest ebay -tension rods we could find at the time because they were cheaper than oem for about 2 years now and she hasnt had any problems. Giving she doesnt drift or drive her automatic hard but it is lowered on pbms. Damn near bottomed out btw. Its all in the welds and construction if you ask me.

The worst thing about products like these, are the bearings. A pair of nice QA1 bearings can easily cost more than this product itself but would make a world of a difference. The only reason people sell things on ebay is so they don't have to deal with company shinnanigans. Top hat still sells their products on ebay.

I buy Tein, Kazama, PBM, I have CS tie rods as of now and will not push my car with those on. They are Scary, however i have Megan Rucas, I bought PBM ones but they did not fit that well so i sold them. The Megan Rucas have been great. I have Tein Tension rods, My friend has SPL and they are THICK they are awesome, but i am too low to go with those because they would hit my swaybar.

Their gen 4 rucas probably eliminate that issue.
