I am wanting an HID kit, and I am not really sure which to go with. Has anyone actually used any for s14? They seem to have universal kits but they require you to connect directly to the battery but mine is relocated to the trunk. I am sure that can be easily overcome, but a plug and play kit would be good, but the p-n-p kit I see on ebay seems to be a bit too cheap to probably be good.

If anyone has experience let me know what ones are good!

Thanks,

Actually in some states you can't get a Inspection sticker if you have HID lights that aren't factory installed.

And unless you use Projector headlights HID bulbs would only be for looks and probably blind on coming drivers a little.

But no I don't believe you have to hook up the lights directly to the battery. I think NICO is affiliated with some HID sponsors so check them out.

We do not have inspection or anything like that here, and I heard shielded bulbs do not really blind anyone, especially if you aim them properly. I will try and look around and see if I come across a sponsor page on here.

Your headlines aren't designed for those bulbs.
The Hondas that go around blinding people are all running that sort of setup.

Read up.

I have a cheap hid set on my cb7. I'm not sure if the same type is sold on ebay. They are bright and I would absolutely buy another set. No issues here.

You have to order different headlight housing that fit the bulb. I'm that ***hole in the honda.

my brother had em on his PT cruiser hahaha but they'd always flicker for some reason, but they seemed decent..... honestly, if yur headlights arent ment to have HID's then you shouldn't use them though. hate when people drive around with them blinding me and sh**.... i almost bought them after my brother bought them, but i ended buying some sylvanias for $60 and they do an awsome job and are super bright and very white..

+1 for Silvania Silverstar or Ultrastars - only drawback is shorter life but my car is not a daily driver so it is not an issue for me. Great color, improved distance, no blinding other drivers.

Philips Xtreme Vision.

Once installed, you can remove your rear view mirror. You won't be needing it anymore because you will never look back.

I got Cibies + Philips Xtreme Power, very good setup.

If people haven't seen the review thread, there's one by Adrian, and 94_240sx put one up on page 2.

OMG THE CIBIES!!!

Did they take around 10 weeks to get like they say? I am ordering a couple sets of those sometime in the near future. I read that whole review probably 5 times :chuckle: MARVELOUS. I have used a Pilot automotive H4 conversion housing with Sylvania Silverstar Ultras and they have been awesome, i used to drive with my high beams on all the time when i had the OE sealed beams and no one noticed lol.

I recently bought the Sylvania Silverstar ZXE's for my Infiniti and they are cool but not $70 cool. The Philips Xtreme vision light their socks off and are only $40! You can only get them in the UK though.

The Philips Xtreme Powers are definitely good and are available here in the US but the Xtreme visions are supposedly a bit brighter (probably a little less life though)

Anyways, the proper halogen setup is much more awesome and reliable then cheap HID kits. I guess it all comes down to whether you would like to look at things or if you'd rather people be looking at your things.

If you are really set on HID's i have a LEGIT kit for sale.

Halo Automotive from Tokyo Japan.

But let's not turn this questionnaire into a sale.

As with everyone else, I do agree that projector housings are the way to go when using an HID bulb. To answer your question(s), I have never had a problem with an eBay kit and I think they look pretty good considering the money you're spending. I personally prefer brighter OEM colors in the high 4000K range and have never been a fan of the super-blue HIDs most people have. Also, the ballasts re-use the old headlight connector, so no hard-wiring to the battery. It's literally a plug-and-play installation.

I am using Autopal's on a TE72 Corolla. They are definitely good, the Cibie headlamp housings are the best you can get IMO but if you are looking for a cheaper solution then the Autopals will be better than any cheap plastic housing.

You can't use HID with them.

Don't get the DOT ones.

Good article, so e code is really going to give better output than DOTS? I don't really care much for the pattern, just the light output.
