Isn't the early president close to being considered a classic car import?? I'm not too up on my bulls*** US laws but I think it's 15 years.

True, but why even worry about importing the car when for minor work you can convert a Q for less.

not much difference except for cosmetics.

Cosmetics is the reason the President is a prestigious car... The whole reason I didn't buy the conversion mista808 got instead is because I wouldn't have a real President. It's just as bad as 240 guys throwing on silvia s*** and calling it a silvia.

It's sort of like putting fried chicken in sushi, right?

Au contraire. Fried chicken maki would be...wonderful.

I've actually had a roll that had miso marinated chicken, cream cheese, and green onion and the whole roll was fried in tempura.

It was one of my new creations, I am an amateur sushi chef

Since the market's slow, call Pimp My Ride. They will VIP your Q and put you a sushi bar in the trunk. Then you can roll up, slam that beast, get out, and be like, "Who wants sushi, bishes?"

that was an awesome deal for anyone at that price... I would have bought a q45 with front end damage just to do this conversion....no one put a bid on the auction...they might still have it so just send a message on ebay to them...

Maybe it's me but that made no sense.

I just said the only major difference between a Q and a president is cosmetics.

So if you can buy the cosmetics why worry about if your car is a real president or not. but it's up to you. I for one would care less.

240's is the same. Why would I want to import a silvia when i can get the motor and front end for less than the car. and still be LHD for US.

RHD

Pointless in the US when everything is on the LH side.

IMHO

RHD FTW

To each his own, I wouldn't be caught dead in a face swapped Q45 that called itself a President.

I feel you tho.. Thats like them boyz riding arounding in a 93 SS Impala... No SUCH THING... Boyz taking Chevy caprice and changing cosmetics and writing ss on there. with ipala symbol.. Run a trace on some of those wanna be 96 impala VINs.. not all of em are real.!!

And president Vs Q.. I thought there were more than just cosmetics on outside.. I thought there were some features on inside that were actually different. Which made it a PRESIDENT!!!?

The only thing that would make it different is the LWB version which i believe has a few extras. other than the tv there is not much a difference. besides nissan vs infiniti logos.

Didn't the rear seats recline slightly, or were they heated? I think they had radio controls too.

I don't care. I still want a LHD President. Even if I have to do the conversion myself.

those were features of the lwb, the js (swb, q45 equivalent) does not have as many features afaik. think of it like this: the swb was meant to drive, the lwb was meant to be driven in.

i personally don't see the fascination with rhd is the u.s. i mean, if someone was selling a jdm pres for q + swap money i'd be interested. not $1 more. well, i take that back. i'd love to have a 2001 pres since updates continued far past the g50 q45's lifespan, but apples to apples imported isn't of greater value to me.

the difference is both the caprices and impalas are readily available. you ride a capala and unless your conversion is super complete you'll see the difference when an impala pulls up next to you. personally i would, and have (had a '95 caprice project), take the caprice anyway. a thoroughly converted caprice and impala are the same thing, apples and apples. in fact a 9c1 caprice > impala mechanically.

ride a president converted q and a president is not going to pull up next to you, plain and simple. sheet metal means nothing, and if you wanna go details: 1) unless you have a driver owning a lwb is pointless imo, 2) 96 (at the latest) vs. 96 the interior is ~15 years out of date anyway even with the "features", and 3) driving on the wrong side of the car isn't even that cool to me... kinda fanboy imo.
