im sure many people have heard of them but do they work? they are the little chips that are supposed to trick the computer into thinking of colder air entering the engine. do they work and if so is it noticable?

It's a 10 cent resistor that replaces the coolant temperature sensor.

They trick the computer into thinking the engine is colder than it actually is, so the computer stays in warm up mode, using more fuel than necessary. The car may also never go into closed loop mode and throw a code in addition to the poor fuel mileage you will get.

So yes, it works as in it affects engine operation, but it's not the effect you want.

Edit: It could be a 10c resistor that replaces the Intake Air Temp sensor if the car is equipped with one. In this case, it would make the computer think colder air is coming in. But in the end we're still tricking the car into using more fuel than needed.

For maximum power gain go with the stage 4 electric turbo. It seems to work for the Neon owners anyways.

It won't do anything but trick you into thinking your car is faster because it uses more gas.

Hey actually those super expensive electric turbos that you need 2 car batteries for and cost like $1000... you know the ones that cost as much as piecing together your own turbo kit would cost... Yeah, they produce like 2-3psi... You can only run them for like 10 seconds though, lol. Sounds F&F status. You know, living life a quarter mile at a time.

I find it amusing how so many people actually buy that ebay junk. No chip, hairdryer turbo, or intake is going to have near the performance gain of quality suspension upgrades, better tires, or reduced unsprung weight. Most people I've talked to would actually get better performance from their 240 if they knew how to drive it. I've seen far too many people put junk performance parts on without even considering routine maintenance. Then they wonder why their car blew up/ wont run. :tisk:
