Was just wondering if anyone ever baught the intakes that they sell on ebay for $40, Are they somewhat the same as AEM or Injen. I mean i know the quality you cant compare but what about perforamnce, will they do the same job as AEM or Injen?

a lot of e-bay stuff is sketchy. i know first hand the injen is quite nice, but all my experience w/ e-bay has been bad.

if the nipples for the smaller hoses are where they should be then i would see no reason why Aem or injen would be any better at all. The only thing would be the filter but you could just get a K&N eventually which is best quality filter you can get.

Question: Does the Injen Short ram intake for 1990 240sx's do anything?

If you go on their web page, they dyno the intake on a 95 240, i think it was something like +8 hp. Which is not bad for $180.

But you have the KA24E, so i dont know.

Just go to http://www.dragracing.com and get the AEM short RAM intake. Thne later on, you can get the cold air extension...

if your planning on just getting the intake without the extension, the ebay ones are just as good as a home made one, injen, hotshot, etc.

if you're getting an extension, the ebay one may even still work. im not sure if it'll line up with the sound resonator hole or not... only one way to find out.

what about catbacks...i've always had this question myself...Are all catbacks and plumbing any different? I mean, sure it's ceramic coated or something...but you can have a shop do that. Is the difference just in the muffler and the resonators themselves or what? I'm just saying that a metal tube seems the same no matter what brand, however, I don't know what kind of craftsmanship goes into the muffler, etc..

PEOPLE! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A COLD AIR FOR A 1990 240SX, ITS IMPOSSIBLE. This is why I am wondering if the short ram will do anything.

Get the ebay intake, you might gain maybe 1 to 2 hp more with injen or hotshot, but is the extra 150 dollars worth 2 hp????

They say you get what you pay for, but that doesn't really matter when money is an issue. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not about to spend money just to get a brand name that's not even proven to be better than generic. Hey, at least most performance parts for the S14 cost half as much as the ones for the S13 on eBay.

if you got nothin to do just make your own especially if money is an issue. Or just leave your stock on an get rid of the bottom half of your airbox an all the other piping thats not needed. Does the same you just dont get the cool sound.

dude i have an off brand ebay intake that actually came WITH the k&N filter. I love it. It fit perfectly and the filter sounds really good. The whole thing only cost $100 and now i see they are selling complete cold air intakes for about $60. I really compared all the intake kits before i bought mine. I made sure all the nipples and outlets lined up and read what other people had to say about the intake kit for my specific car. I even emailed a few and all checked out. I avoided the people that said "my intake didn't fit whine whine whine" Only other thing i would be wary of is that more often than not they don't supply you with enough hose clamps so your gonna want to go and get some from autozone or wherever.

I have the exact same intake as above. I just put it on Friday. What a difference much more responsive and better MPG as well. I got mine for 29.95 on ebay. it has the Dual cone Apexi filter. It came with all of the hardware needed to use the stock sensors. It's completely plug and play , worked great installed in 15 minutes. It was advertised as a (95-98 cold air intake xoxo parts)

I'm thinking about just buying the cone air filter to replace my air box. I would still use the stock tubing and everything. Has anyone ever done just the cone filter to replace the air box?

When I had my maxima I did that, I baught the Stillen Air Cone Filter, made an awesome sound. As far as performance id say very slight notice.

I thought you could just put a little breather filter on that and it shouldn't affect anything??
