http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/240sx-S1 ... ccessories

Just not feeling to pay 100+ right now for one. Would like to know if anyone has had decent experience with the 6 bolt steering wheels sold on there. Also any installed pics?

Can you be more specific? Lots of different wheels on ebay... You talking aabout the 4 lug XXR stuff or 5 lug stuff like Stern wheels and whatnot?

If you're 5 lug and want some cheap deep dish wheels, I'd say get some China Mustangs...

Edit: Holy hell... are you telling about steering wheels or wheels aka rims?

If you're talking about steering wheels, don't. The vinyl that they're wrapped in is not durable, it fades/peels. And the hubs that they come with are absolute garbage.

If you're talking about wheels, as in "rims", most of what is for sale on ebay is XXR stuff. So it should be fine.

Thats waay too much for just the steering wheel. You can get an ebay deep dish with the hub for around $40 shipped.

And yes, I have one. The hub kinda sucks...if you can use the wheel with a decent hub it would be a lot nicer. Also, the bolts that came with the hub are too small if you want to install the plate that holds the horn button. The other problem I encountered was that I had to glue the hub to the plastic ring that makes the contact with the horn button switch so the cable wouldn't break off after steering. Took 30 seconds with a glue gun to solve the problem.

Yes, they are made of pvc leather and are definitely not as nice as an OMP or Nardi or whatever. But for the price? I would take it over the stock steering wheel any day! Makes "spirited driving" feel a lot nicer, brings the wheel closer to you, and doesn't feel like steering a truck or a bus anymore.

But why waste those $40 if its only temporary? Save that for a nice wheel instead. If a cheap ebay deep dish feels so much better than the stock one, it just makes me wonder how much more awesome a real steering wheel will feel like

I think this one costs a little bit more because its a Type R. That is the better model of the eBay utensils.

Should i go with a short NRG hub and short quick release? Full sized hub and short quick release? Im worried the wheel would feel too close, or just to far away..

depends on the hub and the wheel. In my coupe I want my steering wheel towards me exactly 2"

I heard, "when you sit like you are driving and stick your arm out over your steering wheel you want the top of the wheel at your wrist. meaning comfortably your hand sits just beyond the farthest point away on the wheel. This also should mean holding the bottom of the wheel relaxed should be really comfortable." I sit with my seat all the way back so I need a slightly longer hub/steering wheel combo than I currently have.

If you buy a high quality hub/QR you'll be fine with a cheap wheel. I know some people say you're "killing the industry" when you buy a fake or knockoff wheel but honestly, the industry is really the one killing the consumer. Why the f*** is a steering wheel a $300 part? That's absolutely ridiculous. It's one thing spending money like that on control arms but on a steering wheel? Come on.

As long as it's nice stuff (i.e. NRG/Sparco/Works Bell etc. QR and Momo/Sparco/NRG etc. hub) you'll easily be able to sell/trade it without losing very much (if any) at all. Even a well used QR will go for close to $100 if it's in good shape.

Yea, i agree, im not wanting to pay $300 for a wheel..Possibly one day ill buy a nice one running for about 100, but not anytime soon. I just don't know if i should go full size hub + slim QR, Slim Hub + Full QR, or Slim hub + Slim QR. No benefits between them besides size im sure, what kind of set up do some of you guys have?

boss hub off ebay...ebay wheel.... it works fine, a hub is a basic part. the quick release is the only part you dont want to go cheap with... but i have never needed a quick release.. im 6'3" and have no problem getting in and out of the car and dont see why it is worth all the $$...to look cool maybe?? becuase the security factor isnt realistic... its not like its a one of a kind fitment like a key...just my opinion. i guess its another "jdm tyte" thing i dont get

Na not a trendy thing for me, the quick release is actually gonna be part of security for my car, Its not the greatest around here, and i had my 1992 Nissan 300zx N/A stolen out of the drive way last year, even with the doors locked up. If it would have had no steering wheel in it at the time im pretty sure it wouldn't have happened. No one around here would first think of bringing a steering wheel with them while trying to get a car lol, Until they get into and and are like "wtf? what do i do now" Just another thing to throw people off with.

OP, how tall are you? I personally am 6'4" so I went with a regular size hub, slim QR and deep dish wheel. This is because I sit so far from the non adjustable steering wheel, so I wanted to bring it forward a bit. If it's still not close enough, I'll sell the slim QR and buy a thicker one (or a spacer). If you're shorter (I'd say like under 5'10" or so) you're gonna want slimmer stuff cause you'll be so close to the wheel.

If you're going to buy a cheap (junk) wheel like that, why waste your time buying it online? Just go to PepBoys/Autozone or something and pick up one of theirs. Same stuff + no shipping.

Yea..Im 5'10" lol. Also this is just generally speaking too, not just also considering going for the cheap hubs and such. Could just grab an NRG wheel at the same time of ordering a Hub and QR at the same time and get all 3 at once..But i also dont know what combination to go with..Maybe both slim?

Well im glad we have the same thoughts, views, and issues lmao. Wish there was a way i could feel the combination of hubs and see what fits best for me =\..
