I was just wondering if anyone has or trusts the air intakes on ebay.

I know there are really good companies that do their R&D, but with cost being a big factor nowadays, I was just wondering.

some of the ebay cais are cheap enough that it is worth buying them just for the piping. But usually I would put a higher quality air filter on it. Although some are starting to K&N filters on them.

intakes are just piping. i compared the ebay to aem and all i can really tell in performance wise is not really noticable =\. aem are better cause of the carb legal sticker it have so cops cant really hassle you about the intake. a problem with ebay intake is sometimes it wont fit on perfectly =\

Take this into consideration, what does your Z mean to you. If it means a lot, then don't you want the best for it? I do for mine, thats why i try to find the best, or what i feel is the best, or comparable to the best, and save up for it.

honestly its just a stupid pipe with bends. the filter matters i guess... i'm all for quality parts, but sometimes it just doesn't fit the bill. i've seen intakes for other cars are 3 grand... worth it?

Yea, but with intakes you pay for the name.. There isnt rly any difference, i guess it matters what filter you have, but i would not spend over 200.00 for piping that i can get for 50.00.... Thats just me though. I do understand what you mean though, but sometimes you got to get what you can afford.

Remember you get exactly what you pay for. Think of it like tires, would you buy a $9 dollar tire, nope.

there's a lot of r&d involved in making intake pipes...e.g. pipe lengths, angle of bends, pipe width, volume, type of material, etc. that's why ARC sells their pipes alone for $300 and that's why K&N and other big companies have to patent their designs. This is like deja vu... I've said this a couple of months ago in a different thread...hmmm? anyway, don't go cheap on your z. go save your self a couple of extra bills and get a used, but reputable brand pipe in the my350z classifieds.

To everyone who reads this thread:We have all worked or used mom and dads money to buy your 350Z, to be quite honest some of you would not believe the research and development that was put in to it. DO NOT buy cheap stuff to put on your car. Be happy with what you have and if you have to save up to get the good stuff. Dont cheapen your Z and its amazing technology because someone else has this cheap stuff on their car. These cars are top ten in the world in exterior and engine design, tweaking it is not gonna be much from any company who isnt one of the top 3 companies in the market.

I think some of the ebay cai's are fine, but like someone else already said put a better filter on it.

As for me I actually went with a nismo intake. It is made for the car, it is very high quality, has dyno charts readily available, AND it does not void my still existing warranties.

I understand the pull of the ebay intake on a monetary level, but that is about it. I bought a 350z not only for the styling and performance but the quality as well. With that in mind I would only want quality parts on my quality car. There are plenty of good deals on intakes out there from reputable companies. Save your money throughout the course of the month and buy quality you will be happier in the long run.

I don't trust most of the items on ebay and from what I've heard the only one that gives you a real increase is the nismo CAI.

I am still sticking by my above statement about quality parts for a quality car.

But my friend just ordered the NSYS USA short ram intake for his 350z off of ebay for like $15.99 and is very happy with it. This is his second 350z and he had an AEM intake on his first Z, he said he honestly can't tell the difference. I guess it may be something to think about???
