ebay CA18DET motor set, scam or not?

i saw there was a CA18DET motor set; came with motor, transmission, ecu, and uncut wire harness....the bid started for 500, and buy it now was 800. is this how much they usually go for???

Something could very well be wrong with that thing. These motorsets are now becoming rare, importers are now jacking-up the prices on them. And seeing that they are a cheaper than the SR, they assume that the market will eventually resort back to the CA. So anywhere from $1100-$1500 for a complete engine set is normal. Not even I can get them that cheap.

For something like a motor, I would probably stay away from ebay, except for the JHOT auctions. Those guys actually have a reputation to uphold. If you notice, most of the cheap auctions are from Canada or one of those mexican fishing ports in Miami where they haul in 8,000 pounds of tuna and a CA motorset.
