Hey guys. It's been a while since I posted so I figured I would start it off with an eBay bash. I had to laugh when I read some eBay listings today. Everything from bone stock tt's running 400HP+ with no mods to 700HP+ claims with no Dino sheets to prove it on stock blocks. Why can't people just tell the truth and be honest? Why the over inflated gains and why the hell kill these wonderful cars with eBay made parts? I don't get it. They slam the junk on the cars, cant figure out why they run like a hog and then sell them out of frustration and load "wanted, maxed out, supposed" HP gains. Its stupid. I just have been dealing with some guy on there stating he has done all these mods including "hard pipes", sending me recent pictures with rubber pipes on it and saying they are hardened rubber from the factory. Are you serious? Seriously how dumb do these people think we are? So if you want to bash on eBay too then let's start a riff. I want to hear how many other people feel the way I do or if I am just alone in this thinking. :bs:

No you're not alone. I've seen those kinda things too and I also cringe whenever I read them. But they're not all bad. I don't buy much on ebay but the last time I did, when I got my flatbed truck, I had a wonderful experience and dealt with a true honest guy. I was thrilled to learn the seller's ebay description was 100% accurate. We both felt we got a great deal. He even followed up with me a few weeks after I bought it to see how it was working out for me. So I can't condemn Ebay overall.

I can see where you're coming from, I've never bought anything expensive off ebay and I doubt I ever will. The few little things I have bought I've been lucky with and have had great experiences so far. I recently bought some 240Z quarter panel emblems off a guy for $10 when everyone else was selling them for $65+ and they were here within three days. But, it's a lot easier to have a good honest sale on something like an emblem, a car, I dunno, I have a hard time trusting ebay for something like that.

I found my Trans Am on Ebay. It was about 40 miles away from where I lived and aside from saying "all tires match," the car was exactly as described. I contacted the seller with the message sending option, got his phone number, checked it out and bought it for WAY less than the reserve because he was happy to see it was going to a good home and an enthusiast. He was the original owner and I email him photos of the car from time to time- he always appreciates them. Especially the restoration shots :)

I scored a deal on a BNIB unorthodox racing pulley and a used AEM CAI pulley for $10 AND CAI for $48 including shipping. Both didn't have a reserve or starting bid so I scored a deal.
My grandmother wanted a 1st edition rare book that we later found out was really expensive. On amazon they were selling for $300-$500. We got it for $15 because the ebay seller didn't know what they had. There are some real deals on ebay. But I agree with you that you need to be careful. Not sure If I would buy a car off it or those shi**ty car parts that are everywhere.

Today I went on eBay and bought a replacement key fob for the Fiesta today, saving me about $100 from what the dealer charges.

And it might be useful for the OP to know that scams aren't just rampant on eBay, they exist everywhere, and on every forum. You probably just spend too much time on eBay, is all...

Yea. I do spend a bit of time on eBay myself and probably about 80% of the parts I recieve don't fit or don't work. It's quite frustrating. Someone says they are selling a Greddy BOV and I get it in and it's some Jap. Knock off with a fake Greddy tag on it. Or say headers for a Grand National and the v-band clamps are so thin when they were welded it warped the clamp. Or the poor fitment of exhaust systems my customers bring to me that are supposed to be bolt on but require so much fabricating and bending it costs twice what the system was. Not to mention all the knock offs posing as authentic name brand parts. It seems more predominant on eBay motors then anywhere else. I hate the fact these people mark HKS or Apexi or Greddy on parts that clearly are not. I guess some deals are too good to be true.

Who the hell designs th crap? I have a 1994 integra at my shop and I have to install an exhaust system. They gave me an... "EGAY" kit of all things. It's money so I will do whatever my customers want me to but come on...designers should be slapped. I started to in stall the header and got to the downpipe only to find out they damn O2 bung is welded right under the drive axle so as to impede installation of the o2 sensor. I have to pull it off, drill another hole and weld a new O2 bung in the proper location. Arrrgggg. I am going to make a billboard that says "eBay parts...NOT WELCOME" seriously how freaking hard is it to design a part to specs? All try had to do is weld the bung back 2". What the #!*@

Why not simply warn your customers upfront that if they supply Ebay parts themselves that they risk extra labor charges if they are not correct and if you have to modify them to work. Then it shouldn't matter if it takes longer, you'll get paid.
