Good afternoon everyone,

Well, I was at Texas Motor Speedway this morning for a new car survey that a company was putting on to get input on new models and man did I have fun. I got $150 to drive five cars and give my opinion on everything from handling to interior layout to style, etc. We got to take them on the center track at TMS and put them through a cone course with slalom and all kinds of stuff.....really fun.

I drove a new CLK Coupe, BMW coupe, G37 coupe, Audi TT (new styling) and 350Z. I have to say that when the pictures of the new G37 came out I was very dissapointed and I new that no matter how it looked in person I was going to hate it.

Well.........I am eating crow .....after seeing it this morning it is very well thought out. Styling is very good (except the trunk and spoiler will still have to grow on me a bit). The interior looks great (except that damn weird plasticy seat belt thing like on my '05 is back. DAMN I hate that thing, they should have stuck with the thing on the seat back from the '06). The interior feels much more soft, the seats fit better, the arm rest on the doors is a REALLY soft leather. A++++ for the interior. While I would still pick the exterior styling of my '05 over the '08 the interior of the '08 is much improved. With an extra 32 horses she REALLY gets up and moves, I was really get on her. I can't imagine what it would be like with VDC off.

Anyway, for those of you who have ordered one, I think you are REALLY going to enjoy it. Just my $0.02 anyway. I thought I would share.

Later,Brandon

I told my dealer last week to call me when the first one arrives to the dealer. I want to testdrive it. I just want to see and try. On pics for sure the oldstyle looks better but in live?!?. Well I have to see that. I have to picture in my head with mods. Than I can make a decision. You are ahead of us. How is the corner handling compare to the old one?

G Whizz - I know I am a dissapointment I am not a big power buff like others on here so hammering it with the VDC on is my comfort level (plus they wouldn't let me turn it off )

My '05 is two years old and I have never turned the VDC off to see what it can do (I know stop laughing) plus I don't want to buy new tires immediately.

Zozola - The handling is great, it felt improved over mine and really gripped to the road. I felt minimal to no sway and it was just really comfortabel at high speeds.

I am not a tire guy at all but the tires looked bigger than mine and were Dunlops of some sort versus Potenza's that were stock on mine. I do not know if they were stock but I am assuming they were since the car only had 30 miles on it when I drove it.

I am not sure how I got invited?? Maybe something through my dealership or something. It was a company named Synovate that put the thing on.

I don't think it had the four wheel steer, they were all virtually base coupes I know the G37 didn't have some of the goodies.

All in all it was a fun day. If I find out how I was invited I will let everyone know. I just got a packet in the mail and had never heard of them before.
