Hey guys whats up? I was thinkin today about when I do my wiring and thought of this. Couldnt you just have the ECU in the Engine compartment?? The only reason we change the wiring is b/c its changed from the passenger side to the driver side, so if we mount the ECU somewhere on the Jap. passenger side It'd be okay right? Just an idea to try and simplify things... let me know your thoughts

Don't know how much heat the ECU can take, but it will get hot as hell if u mount it in the engine bay, especially on the passenger side(JDM wise), cause the turbo is somewhere around there.

just drill a big hole on the USDM drivers side and mount it up under the steering column im sure there is room up in there!

hmmm... I dont mind running it through and maybe have it going right behind the center console...that seems like it'd be a good place.... Everything wold work right without any hard wiring correct?

how big would the hole need to be? would any wires need to be changed at all then?

the only thing i've heard is theres five wires under the dash that need to be switched around....so that might be all that you need to change.....HOPEFULLY..... someone who knows about this let us know

I would put it up over the steering wheel and just extend the dash harness back to that location. It sounds easier that way.

while we're on the subject of wiring, i was just wondering whether an Emanage would just clip right on to the stock plug for the ECU or if it needs to be all rewired. Or would an SAFC II be simpler and good as well? I cant decide between the two. Thanks

he means, what i was saying mount the ECu and wiring in the area above the steering column, and there are those five or so wires that need to be ran to the pass side for that clip over there, it should be good to go after that ! the hole would have to be the size of the other whole thats in the fire wall that the USDM harness goes into you could use that as a referance point!!!! am i correct at assuming thats what you were saying mad ??? IM me at Sidefxs1 if you want to ask anything or want to get some ideas to bounce around !!!

on the piggy back question, Emanage and SAFC would both have to be "hardwired" , as they have to be wired into the harness and the ECU remains intact.. on the question on which is better .. save the money a lil longer and buy the Emanage !!! they have more flexibilty then the AFC and you can control alot more things like bigger MAF , injectors and turbos !! it has more features and hooks up to a lap top which could be a bad or good thing, but why buy the sAFC and then few monthes later when going bigger you just have to sell it to get more money for that emanage of power FC you want to buy cause its more useful !! well hope this helps a bit !
