I am not a big fan of chrome, there were certain things i was looking for in a new vehicle and the Rogue had all of them, Except all the chrome.

I have been researching on the internet and found the EASYOFF trick for removing Chrome off plastic. I was wondering if anyone has tried this and gotten good results?

Btw, I purchased a platinum graphite special edition.
I plan on blacking out all the chrome.

Thanx

Traded in the BATVERSA for the Rogue.

Hmm, never heard of anyone trying this on car parts other than RC toys. Besides Easy Off there's Castrol Super Clean, Purple Power, brake fluid, and the least expensive stuff, Bleach.

my only concern is that once you remove the cheesy chrome, whats underneath? a dull gray or blck looking plastic.
what are you planning to do once the chrome is off?
i would be careful with harsh chemicals, as they can easily melt the plastic or deform it and cause it to be wavy.
brake fluid for one, breaks down petroleum and literally will cause melting, cracking, and complete destruction. brake fluid is complete death to paints, plastics, etc.

if you want to do something try this:
1. simply spraying the chrome with plasti-dip
or
2. sanding the chrome, and spraying it with a paint that matches the rest of your car.

Guy from Brooklyn went the Plasti-dip route on his grille and rims with great results.

Thanks for the tips, i'm gunna look further into the purple haze and others listed.
I blacked out my Versa, and painted the grill after sanding it down. I was just looking for a easy way
to not have to use the elbow grease.

I do have a can of the Plasti dip in the garage, my buddy sprayed his car and i didn't like the texture
and stickiness of it. I was going to strip the chrome and paint it, and maybe paint the Nissan emblem
the same color of the body.

I do like the way the grill looks on the car in that picture. Thanks for showing me that i hadn't seen it before.

I have a bunch of stuff planned, but i don't think i want to reveal it just yet, ill post pictures when i get the main
part of my master plan done.

I DID WIFEY'S G37s WITH PLASTI-DIP. i did the rims, and the center of the grille, leaving just the top & bottom bar chrome, and the symbol.

The plasti dip on the g37 is MURDERED OUT!!!! Looks amazing, good job.
The original reason i got the plasti dip was to do exactly what you did.

I had ordered the canadian nissan oem bug deflector hood protector, and found my self slowly
doing upgrades one at a time with no central theme or direction. So i thought i would hold off
until i decided exactly what i was going to do before i started covering the car in plasti dip.

The way i was going to do it though, is just like yours but i was going to leave that bottom piece the original color
and put a mesh behind it. Might still do it, i will see when i take the front bumper off. In a few weeks.
I also thought what might look good is putting those led strip lights in each of the 3 openings on the bottom.
But like i said, i dont want to have 500 things all over my car. I just want to pick 3 or 4 major things to change
and ill be happy with how clean it looks. So i guess my bug deflector will be coming off.

thanks man :) that G is going bye-bye soon. picking up a JX for her instead of the G. i told her the G would be a pain in the anus with the 6speed manual, and the tight cramped interior. but- women learn the hard way LOL

i really dont want to do too much to the rogue, as its my 'practical' car. it tows my trailer with race-bikes, and gets me to & from work, and i want it to be comfy, and have everything i want or will need while on the road. looks, come last.
i did tho tint the crap out of the rogue like the did the g37, added a tinted license plate cover, in the 'look' category. otherwise i do interior mods so when i sleep in the car at the racetrack, im comfy :)

PS: i photoshopped the rogue with black wheels, and MEH - mine didnt look right. YOU KNOW what i do wanna do? gloss black roof, gloss black the the pillars on the doors to match the tinted windows. i think the matt-black pillars in between the black looks cheap.

Here's another idea of plasti-dip. Got a picture couple days ago on parking lot. Of course that's an older Rogue and newer got more chrome but...

ImStricken, I love the Plasti-dip application on your bumper. After an idiot backed-up my Rogue, I changed the front bumper. the body shop did a terrible paint job on the bottom center part of the bumper. That is a wonderful solution to cover that poor paint job and add a nice look.

I know it is off topic but how did you mask the bumper? I used Plasti-dip once and when I peeled the masking tape, the black Plasti-dip came off as well. Can you please add some close-up pictures? Where did you stop the plasti-dip area?

when pealing off, you gotta be really slow, and work it with a finger tip to keep the paint down where it belongs. and let it dry really well too.

It's all subjective. Our S2000 is a 6 speed manual and there's no way the G has less interior room. It was my daily until recently and I would have been very happy to keep DD'ing it. The only reason it isn't is that the better half wants to keep it around longer and not put DD mileage on it. I'd trust her ability to select vehicles any day. She bought the Rogue before we met.

YOUR RIGHT, its all subjective. my girl runs her business, goes to school, her cocker spaniel & my 2 chihuahua's, we ride/race sportbikes, PLUS SHE COULDNT KEEP A CAR CLEAN IF HER LIFE DEPENDED ON IT lol

imagine on any given day:
box of work files/stuff.
school books & bag.
her pretty big cocker spaniel
helmet & bike jacket
ipod, iphone, a drink, etc.
= NO ROOM FOR MUCH MORE. the trunk space isnt even tall enough to not crush grocery bags.
