This is just a heads up to all 240/silvia/180sx owners. With the recent poularity of the sr20det and countless bolt-ons for the ka motors, would be car thiefs are looking for our rides. I am lucky, my car would be long gone if it ran, fortunately I have a A/F ratio problem. The 240 is a very simple car to steal, as I found out, especially the s-13. I mean this post in the interest of all 240 enthusiasts. This is what was done to mine: The window pulled from the sill, and cleanly unlocked, ignition lock seperated from the ignition switch, and stearing column drilled to release the steering lock. I have a good alarm on the car, becasue the would be thiefs were smooth and stealthy enough it never sounded and they got to the power lines w/o the alarm sounding. It is my recomendation to all to not rely solely on an alarm. Wire in some sort of kill switch for the ECU, Fuel Pump, MAFS (with no MAFS signal the ECU runs in fail safe operation and will not rev above 2500), or anything else that would keep the engine from operating properly. I hope that anyone that reads this information heeds the warning, would be car thiefs already know. How useful is this information?

I have numerous elements protecting my car from theft, and I live and go to college in the 2nd lowest crime rate area in Virginia.

I think I might be OK.

Maybe.

I don't mean to cause panic, only awareness. These are beautiful cars, smoke the piss out of any Honda/Acura, and are starting to be noticed as a very profitable rip-off. Me personally, I am adding a removable steering wheel, shaving the door handles and adding remote door poppers, removing all interior door operations and linkage, 2 remotely operated relay kill circuits, and a hexadecimal coded ignition of my own design, good luck to the average car thief.

Funny you should mention Garage: I was in the parking garage of my apartment complex. It is supposed to be secured parking. Yeah, so much for that idea. FYI, the same night 7 other cars were broken into, 4 of them stolen, 5 attempted. Use as many safeguards as possible.

4 attempts + 5 successes = 9 attempts.9attempts - 1 (yours) = 8 other vehicles not 7. :D

Actulay i do appreaciate the info tho.. ever since the dealer locked my keys inside the day i bough it.. and slim-jimed it in a matter of seconds, i knew theft would be a problem. It was actulay broken into once while getting the SR swap. Glad they didnt know what they were looking at.

ive got a decent idea for people using a S-AFC. the SAFC comes with 2 programmable fuel maps correct? set one to be the one u use and the other map to be extremly rich or lean so the car wont run. so when u shut off ur car change the SAFC to the map that the car doesnt run on and theives will be boggled when they cant get it to start.

Good idea...it would be better if you were handy w/ electric stuff and could wire a switch to where it changes to the usable fuel map only when the key is turned/inserted...that way your friends can drive it to if they need to. not that we let any of our friends drive our cars.

a fuel pump kill switch and a battery kill swithc would be a great idea if someone would do some writeups on how to do them it could save millions, well not millions but maybe a couple people

My car (S14) actually got broken into a couple of weeks ago but luckily nothing was stolen. Don't kid yourselves if you have an S14, it's just as easy to get into with the frameless windows. Fortunate for me, the alarm went off and my neighbor turned on his house light and scared the guys off...My laptop was sitting in plain sight on the back seat and was still there when I went out in the morning to notice the passenger door was wide open.

I think the best alarm set up would be in teh window. Like if the window gets broken or the lasers shot beams acorss to the other window.. and if the window is moved down or anything that would mess up the laser beam relfecting off the other window would set off a alrarm... **** that a good idea.

hahaha i remember on the discovery channel i saw this one security system, what happened when the car was broken into or the car was hit with something, it would give out a 5 second warning and then it would shoot 6 foot high flames out the side of the car burning the perp alive
