Hi, my S14 SR motor is on a stand right now and planning to reseal the Front Oil Cover. A lot of members say it is a PTA to work involving of removing the head or, at least, removing the cams and tensioner. However, I've also heard there is other ways around without taking out the head. Here is a procedure suggested by a member:
remove lower and upper oil pan sectionsremove crank pulleyremove valve cover. remove exhaust cam gear(ziptie gear to chain to not lose timing)remove tensioner(helps to get the gear back on with the slack)remove the stupid 10mm bolts that connect the head to the timing cover
I'm not familiar with engine work, and I like to get more info and confirmation before starting to work on it. Any input helps. Thanks!
PS: If it is too many hassle, I would do it later when I have money to update headgasket, head stufs, cams, etc.
