hey i need to change my knock sensor and was wondering how you guys would do it. I read that some people replaced it by removing the oil filter and maniflod brackets and installing it from below the engine. has any one installed it fromt the top of the engine going in from were the wiring leads in to the sensor? also did you use a coat hanger to install the sensor? any tips would be great thanks

we had to do this with the manifold and all in place, from the bottom. i could get the bolt in place with the knock sensor on it but couldn't turn it. you might have better luck though. magnetic pick-up tools might come in hand here to get the bolt threaded. from there its just getting creative with u-joints and extensions or maybe a wrench.

I installed my sensor a few days ago and it was very easy. it took about an hour total to r+r the sensor. I did not even install it from the bottom of the engine, what i did was get a plummers snake and bring the sensor in through the front of the engine(were the wiring leads to the sensor) then I just used the plummers snake to grab the sensor and hold it in place. then just line it up and torque it down. my car runs so much better now, if you guys are having idle problems and the cars just feels slow you should check the knock sensor it will save you so many head aches!!!!
