Hey guys im new to the board i have a 1992 and an 89 240sx and im planning on doing a ca18det swap. my question is, since im doing the swap in my own garage with my own tools, is the swap more "straight foward" into an 89? (since the s13 from 1989 originally had the ca18motors in the homeland: japan :-) or would it be easier to put the motor in my 92'.??Also.... where do i go about getting the downpipe to the cat. does a full motor with tranny, ecu, intercooler, wiring, come with the downpipe? Also..are there any books or websites written that have step by step how to install the motor? ThanksTom

Its pretty much the same swap as a SR20. The powersteering and AC needs to be rerouted on the KA24E, and somet things need to be lengthened and their direction changed. Thats about it.

The easiest way is to buy either a GReddy or such, or a knockoff, I'll have both. They don't come with downpipes for the swap.

You'd have to ask Paul if theres any walkthrus, but its basically the same as a SR20.

just did the swap myself. I recomend a 91 and up 240 becuase the power steering lines. Then you can buy a 89 / 90 throttle cable to make the swap fit perfect which is only like 10 dollars at a dealership. Anyways, I bought a greddy downpipe for 140 dollars new and then cut the flange and rewelded it to make it fit perfect. Like D said it won't come with one on the clip. unless I guess you get a special clip.

PeaceDustin
