I'm pretty sure I have everything done so far for the swap. I'm swapping in a 89-91 early year redtop into my 97 240sx. First I swapped the Smaller black plug on my KA water temp sensor onto my sr water temp sensor. Then I swapped the 97 KA transmission speed sensor(with the red gear at the end) onto my sr20det transmission. A guy that lives near me who did the swap onto his s13 said that theres no need ot swap the sensors. As long as the sr speed sensor has a red gear at the end, it should work? Actually, he didnt even swap the temp sensor as well. could this be a redtop to s13 deal? My entire harness is done. Got the z32 fuel filter. There anything else I needa change? Thanks.

They started making SR20's in 1991

Its seems like your moving right along on the process. Do you have an intercooler for the motor? If you provide a complete and ordered list of what you have we could better help you determine what you are missing and what needs to be done.

I think thats bout it, i'm sure i forgot some stuff, if i do ill post it.

As for the water temp sensor, i heard that you must switch the black plug for the same year chassis. Example: I have a 91 redtop, should i switch for a 91 ka water temp sensor plug?

THanks

What's up redtop into Kouki buddy. I also have a redtop in a 97. The two things you mentioned are issues I have had. First the thermal transmitter. There are two coolant sensors, first, the coolant temp sensor which transmits the temp to the ECU is the left-most plug to the right of the throttle body. It has a red connector. You can use the S13 SR sensor as it transmits to the ECU. Secondly, there is a thermal transmittor, which is the right-most plug to the right of the throttle body. It has a black connector and you must use the sensor from the chassis year in this case 97. If you don't have it just go to Autozone or the like and buy a thermal transmitter for a 97 KA.

The transmission is another story altogether. I have the S13 SR transmission and the S13 vehicle speed sensor. My speedo & odometer read twice as fast. I have yet to install the S14 KA VSS to see if that would fix it.

So your saying that what i did was right? By using the 97 KA black water temp sensor plug on the right for the sr20det. I will see how my odometer and speedo work when i swap out my sr20det speed sensor for the 97 speed sensor. Thanks for the help!
