My first impression was that the new eagle's mommy forgot to send out the request.

<--- Eagle Scout Troop 282. It's pretty cool to see some other scouts in here.

Not gonna lie... I would be pissed off if the President was wasting his mental bandwidth on delegating congratulatory letters to new Eagle Scouts.

I'm no fan of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid express, but criticizing the messiah over something in which he is in no way directly related (realistically, I understand that he has his name and seal on the letters that go out of his office) seems to be a bit of a stretch.

<Life Scout that got kicked out for blowing shxt up with fireworks.

I can see the justification for some rage here, although only a little. Obviously POTUS didn't "forget" to send some kid a letter, no POTUS has ever had any idea which eagle scouts were getting letters, they're too busy for that. What Obama IS responsible for is creating an administration wherein the important details are NOT overlooked, but in this case we can clearly see that they WERE overlooked. This can be squarely laid at POTUS' feet as a failure of "corporate culture", so to speak.

How can it be a failure of the POTUS if the manner of request was published by the scouts online and not followed by the applicant? You have no idea if the letter was ever applied for!

I'm not sure why it matters whether or not the government is sending congratulatory form letters from its legislative and executive offices. This is an American tradition I don't understand. I'm not sure why members of congress, governors, or the president should care or pretend to.

I don't know what the significance of becoming an Eagle is, nor do I care to find out. I know that congratulating a young person for an accomplishment with a generic form letter is a pretty insignificant.

Congrats to the folks who made it that far, but there's much more important things the government could be doing (or ruining).

And if its a private organization, why is there an expectation of recognition from public employees? I can't believe you guys are angry over something so small. Maybe you missed out on the thousand-page healthcare bill that's slowly becoming a frightening reality.
