No photos? I distinctly remember a local machinist telling me to be happy that Eagle doesn't carry rods for the KA because of some quality issues. I can't remember the details, but it seemed like he was telling me that they get the rods they carry from different manufacturers and that they aren't always the same material/quality for a given application.

Of course, it could always be plausable that he's full of @#%$ and just wanted to razzle dazzle me with blah.

Honestly, $400 seems pretty low for a product like this, given the much higher price of the Pauter and Crower rods. The AMS rods are a bit lower than those. I wonder what are the specs/hp ratings of the Eagle rods?

damn, i should get my money back from ams, since they're taking forever to get me my rods and buy those.

and yeah, $400 is better, but still a little much.. I can't believe they're charging $700+ for crower, and such.. you can get a set of 8 aftermarket rods for a V8 cheaper than that.

Hell yeah their finally released.. lol **** lonnie you should just get your money back from those rods your ordered thru AMS since their STILL not on the way , let alone even in-stock and just order a set of these eagles, but I do agree that paying $100 a cylinder isnt cheap considering you could damn near get a whole SET of nice aftermarket v8 rods for that, if not cheaper.

ps. i bought the first of the line run of Fidanza Short Shifters, and after paying $80 for it, I wish I woulda bought the knockoff B&M for my s13 =/

just saw this post. We just got the first few sets of the KA24 Eagle Rods. We're putting a motor together for someone with these sets. They wanter to wait instead of getting the Pauters. They look good. (I mean quality is same as other eagle rods of course)

I'll try to get some pictures in the next couple days guys.

I've been told by many people that Eagle rods are as good as any Crower rod. I'm goign to be getting these rather than the Turbo240 rods. I should be pushing over 550whp w/ a GT35. Rods are the last I need for my built engine. And I can finally assemble and break it in.$400 owns. Still a little much, compared to the $300 for most any other aftermarket rods for a 4 cyl.

Email i received from eagle last night:

Quote »They weigh about 630g each. They are sold in weight matched sets (+/- 1g). They are recommended for use up to 1000 hp[/quote]

Good luck on 1000hp! Most of us won`t see over 400hp at the wheels. I doubt that they hold as much as the AMS basic rods which are rated at 550hp.

Why would you think this? There are people with eagle rods in SR20's running over 550whp

pauter rods for ka 750$ for 4 rods. pauter rods for a SBC 350 750$ for 8 rods.....

That seems like a solid price for 4 eagle rods.

Yea I can believe that but the KA rods are a lot longer then the SR rods. If the basic AMS rods are only good to 550 I can`t believe that the Eagle rods would make it to 1000hp.

They have been ready. We sold a few sets already just to confirm. We received the first batch possibly and the next ones are ready for this coming week. So maybe thats what they mean.

I know it has only been a couple months since release, but does any one have any experiences with these Eagle rods in their motor? It seems like some people say they are no good, but they are at a nice price point for me. Web site also says they are good for 600 whp.

I know reliability has alot to do with engine management etc, but are the crower really worth the extra $$? I am looking to make 350-375 rwhp eventually, so I wont be coming close to the claimed rating of the eagle rods. I am looking to do it right in order to have a reliable motor, and I would really hate to cut corners where I shouldn't.

Just looking for any reviews that may be out there (good or bad) to help me decide what to get for my build. Are Eagle rods good for their claims or is it better to go with Crower?

Yeah, you need to measure and check the Eagle rods before using them.We had a set with oval holes but a machine shop fixed it easy.

On the other hand I´ve used many Eagle sets with perfect size.China stuff is often like that.

About the limits, our 885 hp SR20DET is running Eagle rods.

Why not go with the AMS rods then? They are proven good company and don't need anything extra done to them. and the price is about the same.

Eagle rods have even more history than AMS does, just not with KA's.I've been waiting to see these come out since I switched over from DSM's over a year ago. They have been on numerous 500hp DSM's and Evo's which don't have great rod ratio's either.

Yeah,

I was looking at the AMS Sportsman rods, but wasnt too sure on the company's rep. Even though Eagle is a more commonly known name it seems that they are known more for substandard products.

The Eagle rods are about $60 less than the Sportsman, but now I am leaning towards the AMS rods. Plus they come with ARP bolts. One less thing to worry about anyways.

Not ARP in the KA Eagle rods? My SR ones had ARP.

I have Pauters...I'd trust them to hold up my house with one at each corner. But they are for real power and increased RPM runs. Which was my goal at the time. I've heard mixed reviews of about Eagle. But I can tell you one thing, 4 cyl people have been getting ripped of for years, maybe Eagle is simply selling them at the cost everyone else should be. Its smart marketing, undercut everyone and take the lions share of the market. So until I actualy know someone who tossed a rod, I'm assuming a major company like Eagle is on the up and up.

Right on the money.

Every Rod maker I asked "Why the difference on price?" I could not get a straight answer.

Also, about the V8 rods, when you forge a set of V8 rods, you will sell them in a week. How long do KA24 rods sit on the shelf? If they have to sit on their investment 4 times longer, does that not justify the higher price. Afterall, an investment only pays a high return on high risk. Yes, this board is nutty with this ****. And we all spend so much time that it seems like the whole world does this very thing, but really they don't and for a company to make a run of 10 sets, it could take a year to sell them, you need to pay your creditors in 30-60-90-180 days, you need to sell them for more money. You want cheaper parts, get a SBC and you can have ALL of the cheap parts.

A machine shop has a computer diagram of said rod. The machine shop already had said machine, already had said machine operator...the overhead for starting such a bussiness is huge, but EAGLE has been around for 1 million years and doesn't owe the bank any money for a simple rod design. Your theory is a sound one, but not for an item such as a rod. The exact specs can be found online for a stock rod, modify said specs on the computer, which is somthing even I could do, drag and drop said measurments into the machines computer...and that thing will spit out rods all day. Forged aluminum bought in bulk is very cheap.

The expenses for many other parts would be high, for a rod they will not. If they were pumping out intake manifolds after research...that would be a different story.

Okay, you've changed the nature of the arguement then. Assuming they are produced from forged billets, you are then talking about an hour of machine time per 4 set.

So, you have a production going, and you have to reset the machine for the new rod. Even with CNC, this is not an instant process. You can ask any machinist, 90% of the costs of machining is setting up the machine. Everything else is automatic. So you are paying a trained union professional to make a precise piece of machinery. But what's more is you are asking him to reset his machine from the process he was doing, (which is cheaper for you, and more profitable for them). But you are asking all of this of a highly qualified professional, when none of us can do it. There are many reasons we pay more, and some of it DOES have to do with the fact that it is import, but most is the nature of the business.
