Yes, I know I searched. But from what I read there seemed to be no answer. So I'm asking these questions.

1. Is eagle making ka rods? Explain.

2. Do z32 rods work? Explain what is necessary to make them work.

Also if the z32 rods do work, would it be necessary to upgrade to Eagle, this is of course assumong that the stock z32 rods are strong enough to hold more than the stock ka rods, so around 400hp.

Thanks

But is it really worth saving 750 bucks to risk having to rebuild the motor AGAIN? (this is assuming you rebuilt it once with some beefier pistons). Personally, I wouldn't go for over 400hp and use stock rods. Now the 3-350 or so range with a relatively stock rev limit, ok.

It is, however I know someone using Z32 rods with a custom piston with a different wrist pin height. He's using Eagles. However, I've been unable to turn up the exact numbers :(

yeah once you add in the price of custom pistons it takes away the price advantage. And the cheapest eagle rods aren't any better than good stock forged ka rods.

i agree.

if price is the reason why you want to use eagle, then don't waste your money.

If you could find a set of V8 rods that fit, we could have one hell of a group buy.

Any word on what kind of rods ADAMHU is using?

Maybe I'll just ask him on the local boards.

Sorry...I was misinformed. What works from small chevy engine are the connecting rod bolts. I know for sure that the pistons off a ca18det work for turbo age's, but don't know if overboring is required. I do not know what rod is used either (if 4agze or ca18det). some guy in costa rica did it.

Anyways, here's a site with much info: You can also see that the supra's 7mge valves or springs work as well.

If Adamhu has v8 rods in his ka, he has unfinished forgings, finished up in ka dimensions. And if he is anywhere near stock length, they are most likely bbc rods. Problem with stuffing different rods in the ka is the BE width, even the ka which uses .975" wide big end (narrow compared to other nissan engines) is to wide to use any finished sbc rod (sbc has the only rod journal diameters that could work). I have researched this heavily and there is no rod that easily works, either you get a custom, or get an unfinished forging and machine it to ka width. V8 bearing would be required. SBC small journal diameter "can" work with ka diameter, with a .040 under bearing. Basically all other v8's use larger journal diameters 2.1+

hush hush, hehe. They come in the shorter variety tho and are good for destroking with different blocks. The 2.6l does have a 6.5" rod but im pretty sure it uses a larger journal diameter (these rods are no better than ka anyways).

I have been in touch with 3 different outfits that machine the aftermarket rods to stock dimensions, inquiring to buy unfinished rods. These are for the small journal tho, and a length of 165mm for ka is uncommon. You can get them in the 6.000-6.400" varieties with either the 2.00 small chevy bore, or smaller "honda" journal. The "honda" journal is common thing now on the race small block chevys, this rod journal diameter lets you offset grind and stroke a nissan/datsun crankshaft, if you can get the rods with unfinished width.

Many other combos and possibilities as well. Depends on what you can find, and find cheap.

i am using manley v8 nascar rods, and custom ross pistons, the engine builder told me to use the rods he had to resize something...not sure exactly what..i left it up to him...obviously its works..been using them for 3 years now ..no issues..
