ive done extensive research on the subject and needed to finalize some things.

1. will an E5 Blacktop ECU run a redtop SR20? 2. ive read that doing so requires repinning (well with the J4 ECUs anyway, since it uses some S14 sensors IIRC). so what needs to be repinned?

this is a pretty self explanatory question. your feedback is appreciated. THANKS!!

what year is your redtop?

can you check if it really was repinned? that would seriously help me out.

Running a 91 redtop here. I was going to go that route originally because I heard that it works but I got lucky and my front clip came with a JDM SR ECU.

so you are running a 62 ECU i assume?

i just want to make sure that an E5 can control the redtop. im sure the input and output values of both engines are similar, so in theory i assume it works. the only oddball here is a 180sx kouki blacktop (97-98 180sx) with the J4 ECU (the motor and ECU i have).

im just asking because MrZabala got a redtop off of me, and I have a spare e5 laying around.

I dont know if it was repined or not cause I have the Power FC in. I didnt have to repin anything when I put int he Power FC and I ran on the E5 ecu fine. But when we tried it in my buddies car it didnt want to run.

meaning you placed an E5 in your car, and it ran. and then when you placed the same ECU in your friend's redtop, it refused to start?

I ran my 1996 s13 blacktop with both ECU's and never did anyrewiring, but it wasnt for a long period of time, it was to test to see if my ECU was bad, but my motor came with a modified E5 and I switched to the 62 to make tuning easier...you never know what the car had on it in Japan...
