i have "HEARD" that they are interchangeable, The only difference is the 02 sensor. If you use a e5 ecu you need a fat sensor. If you use the #62 ecu you need the skinny sensor.

My harness is a converted KA harness that has ran both 62 and E5 ECUs. The O2 sensor I use is a standard bosch single wire. It's identical to the one used on the KA.

I've swapped a e5 in place of a 62 on my stock redtop. It works great for about 10-15 minutes, then starts running very lean (17-18:1). Any ideas? O2 sensor compatability issues maybe? Not a big deal since it's been running fine with the 62 for 3yrs, just curious why the e5 doesn't work.

So like this guy said... o2 sensor needs to match the ecu?

I have a redtop sr20 with the e5 ecu in my car, but it has a skinny O2 sensor? runs ok but has some minor issues I was trying to diagnose (hard start issue, weird a/f ratios) I've had the car only a month so don't know much about it. What O2 sensor is the "fat" sensor? Application, part number, etc so I can get a new one see if it runs better? I tried checking the ecu for trouble codes but the led doesn't light up at all....ever....not sure why.

just figured out why....no led in e5 ecu just found that in a diff post. still wondering about o2 sensor tho.

iirc the redtops use the skinny (62) and the blacktops use the fat (e5) i dont know if itd have any affect if it were skinny or large, my friend has a blacktop with the 62 ecu and is running a fat. you can always try to see if there is any difference
