e piston in de motor help

i have a sohc ka and was wandering how i can tell what year the block is and if it is even a e block i was thinking about doing the e pistonswap in my de any help thanks i do know it was a sohc 12 valve

I think the only way to know what year the block is from is to look on the car that it came out of (or at least I didn't notice a date on the block when I tore it apart.) I've heard rumors that the early 89 blocks used higher compression pistons, and that you can use these in the DE, but take it as a rumor. Sorry...

im not sure what year the car is and i dont have the car a buddy just dropped off a lot of 240 parts. i know it was a sohc 12 valve. think it was an 89 but not sure. thanks for ur help

If I remember correctly, my DE pistons had notches on the top. The E pistons do not, primary reason why it raises the compression when you swap them....Not sure though, you might wanna check....

hey ratedr i want to tell u thanks for the help i went and checked the pistons and thats what they were or at least i guess but thanks for the help again
