Ok, i did something really dumb with my 91 240sx. I drove into a 2ft deep puddle of water on accident (i did not think it was that deep). I was in for about 15 seconds and to my amazement i made it out getting about 2" of water inside my car in the process. my car ran fine for about 30 seconds and with no warning died. It would crank, but not start. I got it pulled home and noticed a buzzing sound comeing from the egi relay and random clicking sound from my injectors despite the fact that my car was off and the key was not in the ignition. I tried to start my car again and i got the same thing, crank, but not start. I also noticed an extremley strong raw fule smell comeing from the tail pipe. So i disconected the negative battery terminal to stop the buzzing and clicking. I know there is a short somewhere but i dont know where to start looking. HELP PLEASE!

you say you got water inside the car?? The ECM is basically on the floor of the car. pull the right hand kick panel out and see if the connector is full of water. BTW we have done an engine in a 240 that drove through a puddle because it sucked up water through the intake tube located in the bumper. You really shouldnt drive your car through deep puddles like that as a multitude of problems can happen as you can see.

I just checked the ECM and that beast got wet to some degree. Any suggestions? take a hair dryer to it? or get a different one?

It will till all that excees fuel burns off and the plugs completely dry out. They are likely fouled.

Chances are you just have a jumped connection somewhere from the water. Open everything up and leave it outside on a hot day.

I appoligize I never saw the post where you said you found water in the ECM. I would of told you then to replace it. I usually hit these threads up through my recent topics list by clicking on the last poster in the thread.
